$5,000 for 700 chemistry and biology students to monitor the energy released by food as it burns, to study the effect of temperature on fermentation, determine the heat of fusion of water, and measure total dissolved solids of fresh water using the calculator based lab system.

$2,620 for 180 Physical Science students to study atomic structure focusing on the electron, conduction, static electricity, electric generation (mechanical and chemical), flow, current, amps, ohms, voltage, watts, resistance and magnetic fields. As part of their lab exercises, students will analyze the fundamental electric charges and their behavior by constructing and explaining simple circuits using wire and a power source.

Pearl River High School (Pearl River, NY)

$4,370 for 120 high school environmental science and ecology students to learn to measure and understand water quality; they will construct a map of a local stream indicating six field stations to conduct the tests, collect, organize and analyze the data, and complete a report to present to the annual meeting of the New York State Water Congress.
