With All-New Line of State-of-the-Art Decks for ‘98
In 1998, Toshiba is reaffirming its role as the industry’s clear
leader in VCR technology with the introduction of a completely new line of
advanced decks. Toshiba’s lineup of ten new VCRs is led by four
six-head Hi-Fi models, each featuring the company’s revolutionary V3
chassis design plus a host of performance and convenience features such as
the image-enhancing DNR Perfect, Icon-Based On-Screen programming, and
more.

we re-defined VCR performance with our breakthrough V3 chassis design. In
’98, we’re continuing to build on this superior design with new
models that satisfy consumer demands for improved picture and sound
quality, total ease-of-use and reliability.”
Six-Head Hi-Fi Decks -- For The Audio/Video Perfectionist
For the highly discriminating home theater enthusiast, Toshiba’s
all-new six-head Hi-Fi VCRs -- including models M784, M774, M764 and M754
-- offer the ultimate in performance and convenience. All four decks
feature Toshiba’s revolutionary V3 chassis with flying pre-amp design
for superior audio and video performance. Until Toshiba brought the design
to the consumer market, only professional decks featured flying pre-amps,
which amplify the video signal while it is still inside the VCR's rotating
head cylinder. Because the flying pre-amp is located directly in the video
head cylinder, virtually no video noise enters the signal during playback.
The result is a much clearer and more natural-looking picture.
In yet another tour-de-force of engineering know-how, Toshiba’s new
six-head VCRs combine the V3 chassis/flying pre-amp design with an
additional pair of 19-micron heads to deliver sharper, clearer pictures in
the extended play (EP) mode. In these six-head decks, EP picture quality
is virtually indistinguishable from that achieved in the standard play
(SP) mode. In addition, the top-of-the-line M784 features DNR Perfect,
which incorporates both Digital Noise Reduction (DNR) and Color Signal
Enhancement (CSE) for unsurpassed video performance. The advanced Digital
Noise Reduction circuitry automatically scans each frame of a video
individually, removing image-degrading flecks and specks (“video
noise”) that often appear in well-worn rental tapes. And Color Signal
Enhancement significantly improves color sharpness while reducing
horizontal color bleeding.
All new Toshiba six-head VCRs are designed to make time-shift recording
fast and hassle-free. The decks feature a special on-screen programming
system with visual icons that guide users through every step of the
recording process with point-and-click simplicity. The M784, M774 and M764
also include a universal remote control with DSS control, making recording
of DSS as simple as possible.
Toshiba’s new line of VCRs for ’98 also includes five
four-head Hi-Fi VCRs, Models M684, M674 and M474, each with VCR Plus+ C3 ®
Programming for easier and more convenient recording, as well as a
value-priced 2-Head Model M264.
