As part of our commitment to improve the quality of life in communities where we do business, Toshiba America sponsors and promotes a wide variety of volunteer initiatives and enrichment programs. These include:
Toshiba Tall Ships Festival
The Tall Ships Festival is the largest gathering of historic sail boats on the West Coast. The festival offers living history demonstrations, live music, an art show, ship tours, and other family-oriented activities. Hosted by the Ocean Institute in the Dana Point Harbor, it is a celebration of California's maritime history that has become a favorite annual event.Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (TABS) employees and their families participate in the festival by helping the crew of one of the tall ships during the Sail-In Parade, and giving visitors to the Dana Point Marine Life Refuge.

Build-A-Boat
TABS sponsored teams in an annual one-day Build-A-Boat event at the Ocean Institute. Teams have four hours to build a boat out of four pieces of plywood, with no power tools being allowed. After the boat is built, there is a competitive race with one adult and one child in each team's boat. The event gives Toshiba employees the opportunity to work together with children and community, and also provides a opportunity for children to learn how to work as a team, follow directions, and helps with their math skills. The proceeds raised from this event are used to maintain the Ocean Institute's Tall Ships.
