Maine's Household Television and Computer Monitor Recycling Law
Televisions and computer monitors generated as waste by households in Maine must be managed in accordance with Maine's E-Waste Law, which establishes a system in which consumers, municipalities, and manufacturers are responsible for ensuring that these items are properly recycled to reclaim all useable materials and prevent the release of toxics into the environment. No later than July 20, 2006, municipalities must have ensured that waste televisions and computer monitors generated by households in Maine are recycled. Prior to that, beginning January 18, 2006, manufacturers must now pay the cost of consolidation and recycling of these items when they are handled by specified consolidators. For more information about Maine’s electronic waste law, please visit:  Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
