Educational Initiatives in the Tradition of Toshiba's Founder Hisashige Tanaka, founder of Toshiba (and often called "the Thomas Edison of Japan") endowed our company with a legacy and spirit of innovation that continues to guide us in everything we do - a constant reminder that creativity and scientific curiosity are the building blocks of technological progress. Therefore, in order to help inspire and motivate young people, Toshiba is actively involved in a number of philanthropic programs that have become integral to the curriculum at many schools throughout the U.S. and Canada. The two main pillars of Toshiba's math and science educational initiative in North America are the Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards Program and the Toshiba America Foundation.
