Toshiba is committed to creating innovative, cutting-edge technology that is environmentally conscious and of good value to our customers. Below, please find items Toshiba discussed with attendees:


Consumer Electronics Show 2009 - Toshiba's Environmental Booth

For the third year in a row Toshiba featured a compelling environmental area at the Consumer Electronics Show, held in Las Vegas from January 8 - 11, 2009.  The environmental area was located within the larger Toshiba booth and highlighted Toshiba's environmental efforts and products designed for sustainability.
Below, please find a few items we discussed with attendees at our environmental area:

  • Toshiba's notable long-term plan for addressing environmental issues: Environmental Vision 2050 (Panel 1 ).
  • Toshiba's unique eco-efficiency measure: Factor T (Panel 2 ).
  • Toshiba's policy on Environmentally Conscious Products  (ECP) (Panel 3 ).
  • Toshiba's SCiB (Super Charge ion Battery), an long-life, quick charging battery for a motorized bicycle (Panel 4), for a PC (Panel 5 ), and for other larger industrial and automotive equipment.
  • Toshiba's E-Core LED lighting  technology that is superior in energy efficiency and dimming capability (Panel 6 ).
  • Toshiba's energy efficient (Panel 7) and award-winning (Panel 8HDTVs .
  • Three of the highest-rated EPEATTM notebook PCs currently on the market, the Portege M750Portege A600, and Portege R600 (Panel 9 ).
  • A disassembled Portege R600, highlighting what makes it Greenpeace's choice for greenest notebook PC  in its second annual "Green Electronics: The search continues" survey (Panel 10 ).
  • Toshiba's global tree planting efforts , including plans to plant 80,000 trees in San Bernardino National Forest to recover from recent wildfires (Panel 11 ).
  • Toshiba's industry-leading recycling and trade-in program (Panel 12), which includes the most comprehensive trade-in program (Panel 13), and a substantial drop-off collection service with over 200 sites in all 50 states (Panel 14 ).

We also displayed a few of our latest awards for our environmental efforts…

  • White House Council on Environmental Quality commendation for having EPEATTM   Registered Products available to Federal purchasers.
  • US Environmental Protection Agency's commendation for participating in the Plug-In to eCycling Program .


Toshiba Expands Electronics Recycling Program with Drop Off Sites in 50 States and adds New Energy Efficient Products and Environmentally-Conscious Efforts

Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. (TACP) reaffirmed its commitment to the sustainability of the environment by announcing new initiatives including more energy efficient products and new recycling programs in 2009.

Orange County Water District and Orange County Sanitation District Named Winners of " Toshiba Green Innovation Award"

World's Largest Water Purification System of its Kind Recognized for its Innovative Commitment to the Environment

Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. and Toshiba America, Inc. extend their congratulations to the Orange County Water District (OCWD) and Orange County Sanitation District (OCSD), winners of the “Toshiba Green Innovation Award” for their jointly designed Groundwater Replenishment (GWR) System.

Toshiba Corporation published Toshiba Group Environment Report 2008
Company provides latest comprehensive data on environmental measures and initiatives

Toshiba Corporation announced that the English edition of the Toshiba Group Environmental Report 2008, which covers the full spectrum of the Group’s environmental activities in FY2008, is available.

Environment Report 2008 provides Toshiba’s stakeholders and other interested parties with an authoritative resource on Toshiba Group’s environmental policies, plans, programs and activities. The report covers progress made in the course of the last year in such important areas as elimination of hazardous materials, management of chemicals, and the development of environmentally friendly technologies.

(TAI), gathered to review FY2007 CSR activities and to discuss Toshiba Group's CSR for FY2008. This year's focus was Environmental Communication presented by TAI.

Toshiba America, Inc. convenes its 13th Environmental Issues Committee (EIC) Meeting

The 13th Toshiba America Environmental Issues Committee Meeting was held July 8-9, 2008 in Ogden, UT.  A representative from the Corporate Environmental Management Division from Japan reviewed Toshiba's FY2007 environmental performance, outlined Environmental Vision 2050 and explained Toshiba's environmental outlook and goals for FY2008.

Toshiba hosts Arbor Day Foundation for Check Handover Ceremony in recent sponsorship for replanting of 80,000 trees in Southern California

On June 6, 2008, Toshiba America, Inc.'s Chairman and CEO, Toru Uchiike, presented a check to John Rosenow, Founder and Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.  The donation to the Arbor Day Foundation will help to plant 80,000 trees in Southern California National Forest areas damaged by wildfires last October. Toshiba America, Inc. convenes its 12th Environmental Issues Committee (EIC) Meeting

The 12th Toshiba America Environmental Issues Committee Meeting was held February 20-21, 2008 in Irvine, CA. A representative from the Corporate Environmental Management Division (CEMD) from Japan explained expansions to Toshiba's Global Environmental Policy and the action items in America for this year. American-based Toshiba Group companies presented environment related action results.

     

 

 

 


Toshiba rolls out its upgraded environmental audit scheme (EASTER) and conducted audits at Toshiba de Mexico (TMX) and Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) in January, 2008.

The Environmental Audit System in Toshiba on the basis of ECO Responsibility (or EASTER) is Toshiba's internal environmental audit system.  It is a robust, comprehensive tool that is used to evaluate the environmental performances of Toshiba's various sites.  EASTER provides a measure that allows auditors to ensure safety and compliance with Toshiba's stringent internal environmental standards, in addition to adherence to various state, national, and international standards and regulations.  It is a unique system that has been in place since 1993, and has been continuously updated and improved to meet the increasing challenges to protect the natural environments of Toshiba's various locations.
