Toshiba of Canada Ltd. (TCL) and AOL Canada’s Quest for Online Safety:
Reflecting its commitment to learning and technological innovation, TCL has teamed up with AOL Canada to help educate the community about online safety. This educational initiative is designed to help teachers and parents better understand how children use the Internet, how they can use it as an education and entertainment resource, that is safe from predators, cyber-bullies and other online dangers. “Mobile computers help kids realize that education is everywhere, and we want to make sure that they are kept safe when they are expanding their horizons", noted Sherry Lyons, Marketing Communications Manager of TCL. Participating schools must share their stories about how they have actively promoted online safety. Schools were judged on the success of their initiative, the amount of student involvement and creativity. This year's Grand Prize was awarded to Sargent Park School of Winnipeg Manitoba. For their efforts they received a Toshiba computer lab consisting of six fully loaded Toshiba M40X notebook computers.
