Environmentally Conscious Products
Growing concern about global warming, waste disposal and other environmental issues reflects heightened awareness of the vulnerability of our environment. Prompted by an earnest desire to hasten the emergence of a recycling-based society, Toshiba strives to create environmentally conscious products (ECPs) with minimal environmental impact throughout their lifecycles.

Environmental Considerations at the Product Planning Phase
| In the development of ECPs, numerous items, such as resource saving, reuse and recycling, energy saving and reduction in use of toxic substances, have to be taken into account from the product planning phase onward. Toshiba Group has developed and introduced a life cycle planning (LCP) technique for formulating a design concept at the planning stage that satisfies the quality and cost requirements while decisively reducing environmental impacts throughout the product life cycle. |

RoHs Compliant Laptop Computers
Toshiba has designed and is now manufacturing one of the world's first fully RoHS-compatible PCs. Toshiba's implementation of the new RoHS regulations well ahead of the compliance deadline reinforces Toshiba's commitment to product design leadership and our ongoing commitment to the environment. Toshiba undertakes many R&D initiatives to bring leading edge and environmentally friendly notebook computers to our customers. All future Toshiba PCs will be RoHS compatible.
The goal of the RoHS Directive is to dramatically reduce the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium and both polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants in the production of new electrical and electronic equipment.
