Toshiba is a leading supplier of high-performance gallium arsenide (GaAs) microwave devices as well as a new line of gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) products that operate in the X frequency band. The company's line-up of products consists of a series of components within the S, C, X and Ku frequency bands, which are used in a wide variety of wireless applications. These applications include personal communications systems (PCS), multi channel distribution system (MMDS), Wireless LAN/WAN systems, point-to-point terrestrial microwave radio, wireless local loop (WLL), satellite communications systems (SATCOM) such as high power solid state power amplifiers (SSPA) and very small aperture terminals (VSAT), radar systems, mobile communications and other communication systems. Targeted applications for the new GaN products include satellite communications (SATCOM), terrestrial point-to-point communications, radar systems and medical applications such as those used in oncology.

C-Band is 4 watts (W) up to 80W, which is the highest offered in the industry for its frequency band. In addition, the Ku-Band also offers the highest power levels in the industry for its frequency band, ranging from 2W to 30W. The first GaN product, the TGI8596-50, provides output power of 50W. Higher gain, higher output power GaN devices are currently under development.

Toshiba also offers an ultra linear GaAs FETs product family, designated the UL family, for C-Band frequency range with higher gain, lower intermodulation distortion and higher efficiency. The UL product family includes products from 4 watts (W) up to 25W and was developed for point-to-point microwave digital radio for terrestrial communications and block up converter or VSAT terminal for satellite communications.
