As a well-established leading supplier in the $16.3 billion1 optoelectronics market, Toshiba is widely recognized for providing innovative components that offer the right balance of cost, performance and size. An extensive product portfolio consists of photocouplers (optocouplers), LEDs, TOSLINK™ Fiber-Optic Devices, photosensors and photointerrupters. Register to request samples and to receive the new Optoelectronics Reference Guide.
As a type of isolator favored by manufacturers, photocouplers also serve as noise protectors in many electronic devices. Toshiba's high-speed IC photocoupler lineup now extends from 1MBd to 50MBd2 . A combination of either GaAs infrared LEDs or GaAlAs infrared LEDs and silicon photodetectors are incorporated into Toshiba's innovative white-mold packaging, which greatly contributes to high sensitivity, high CTR, and superb reliability. Specification for the popular Shrink Dual Inline Package (SDIP), pioneered by Toshiba, is available in a comprehensive 80-page product guide. Select from five categories:
Helping Lead a Performance Revolution in Visible LEDs
Looking for highly bright, high-flux white LEDs? Toshiba continuously introduces innovative visible LED technology and packaging techniques to meet the ever-increasing demand of new and specialty applications requiring higher levels of luminous output, power and color. Among the first to introduce InGaAlP technology to improve luminous intensity, Toshiba also developed new visible LEDs based on the combination of ultraviolet (UV) LED and phosphor technology, which allows new colors to be generated and minimizes color shift.
TOSLINK™ Fiber-Optic Transmission Devices
The Toshiba TOSLINK™ brand of unique fiber optic devices uses optical interconnects to achieve noise-free transmission of data communication. At a data rate of up to 25Mbps, n umerous applications exist including digital audio, factory automation, car audio and navigation, office automation and various IEEE 1394 apps. TOSLINK ™ can be used with inexpensive 1 mm plastic optical fiber or higher quality multi-strand plastic optical fibers or even quartz glass optical fibers depending on the desired bandwidth and application.

Innovative Photosensors
Helping pioneer ambient light sensors widely used in mobile phones, the expanded line of Toshiba photosensors and photointerrupters is used in virtually all types of electronic devices and equipment, including the industrial, computing, automotive, consumer, telecommunications, and medical markets. New components include:
TPS856: a photo-IC that incorporates a photodiode, a current amplifier and a luminous-efficiency correction function in a single chip. Employing a new filter technology, luminous-efficiency function achieves responsivity close to that of human eyes
TLP848: an ultra-compact surface-mount photointerrupter that offers the industry's smallest form factor3 and highest current transfer ratio3; ideal for portables such as camera phones and digital cameras
Since 1986, Toshiba Corporation has ranked as the top discrete supplier worldwide, based on annual revenue from international shipments of total discrete products4 . The company leads a number of discrete product categories, including optoelectronics, power transistors, rectifiers and thyristors, L-MOS logic, CMOS logic, small signal diodes and transistors.
