The Magnetic amplifier, or Mag-Amp, method of secondary regulation in
switching power supplies can lead to benefits such as miniaturization,
high efficiency, low noise, high reliability, and high precision. A Mag-Amp
consists of a saturable reactor (a wire-wrapped saturable core). With
the introduction of amorphous saturable cores, Mag-Amp have became more
practical and so their use has become more wide-spread. The Mag-Amp method
is the most suitable voltage regulation method for the switching power
supply in personal computer. The "MS" series of amorphous saturable
cores provides the stable magnetic performance required by Mag-Amp at
an excellent price. This makes the "MS" series an ideal choice
for designers of PC power supplies.
