TX09 Series of Microcontrollers Based
on the
ARM926EJ-S™ CPU
The Toshiba TX09 series
of microcontrollers (MCUs) is aimed at low-cost consumer electronics
applications such as eDictionaries, eReaders, digital picture frames,
display panels, POS terminals, low-vision readers, toys and educational
tools. The ARM926EJ-S™ CPU can run a Linux operating system,
Windows®CE operating system or similar "rich" OS
environments, which are supported with a matching set of peripherals
to enable many application possibilities. These peripherals include:
CMOS image sensor/camera interface
USB device
USB host
SD host controller
TFT LCD controller from QVGA to XVGA
Graphics accelerator
The ARM926EJ-S CPU delivers
high performance operation with DSP extensions and hardware support
for the Java™ platform. It is supported with 16KB/16KB I/D
caches, and up to 56 Kbytes of on-chip fast SRAM, and is capable
of a wide range of processing tasks, including voice codecs for VoIP,
MP3 and other digital music decoding, JPEG decode and scaling for
digital picture frames, image processing and
compensation for data coming from the image sensor,
and GUI interfacing. The graphics accelerator can scale and rotate,
and can overlay text using alpha blending, and the LCD controller
can support a wide range of TFT panel sizes and pixel widths.
For fail-soft applications,
the TX09 series of MCUs are the only ARM926EJ-S CPU-based MCUs compliant
to IEC60730 class B.
The TX09 MCUs are offered in a range of packages, with CPUs
running at 200 MHz over a standard operating temperature range, and
at 150 MHz, over an extended temperature range of -20 to +85.
