The powerful Visconti™ Series image recognition processor ICs are used in camera-based vision systems for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Visconti changes the way people drive by detecting and recognizing target objects such as humans, faces, hands, vehicles and processes image data from multiple camera inputs frame-by-frame and then outputs results to an LCD panel. The Visconti Series can monitor and detect a wide range of driving conditions:
- Forward Vehicle Detection and Collision Warning
- Forward and Backward Collision
- Real-time Traffic Lines
- Lane Departure Warning
- Rear and Front Pedestrian Detection
- Left/Right Turn Awareness
- Obstacle Vehicle Detection
- Traffic Sign Detection
- Top-view Parking Assistance
- Driver authentication and monitoring
Features
- The Visconti Series incorporates Toshiba's original image processing accelerators using Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) features, enabling real-time pedestrian detection both in night time and daytime. HOG features are suitable for detection of humans due to its robustness regardless of lighting changes or small deformations.
- The Visconti2 and 3 Series support high-resolution color cameras suitable for applications requiring color recognition, such as detection of traffic lights and signs.
- Up to four cameras can be simultaneously connected to the Visconti2 and 3 Series making it suitable for a bird's-eye view parking assistance system that uses images synthesized from image data captured by four cameras.
- The Visconti2 and 3 Series incorporate four image processor cores operating at 0.266 GHz, and up to six image processing accelerators, enabling fast object detection with enhanced performance. At 0.266 GHz, each image processor core achieves computing performance equivalent to that of 3 GHz notebook PC processors and realizes low-power consumption of less than 2W.
- The Visconti3 Series is backward compatible with the Visconti2 series and can run the OS and other software needed for enhanced connectivity with car navigation, smartphone and cloud applications by adding the ARM® Cortex™-A9 MPCore™.
- The Visconti3 Series incorporates a single/double-precision Floating Point Unit (FPU) that simplifies optimization of the imaging algorithms so that software developers can reduce their overall design time.
