MLC NAND with an Embedded Controller to Manage ECC
With an internal controller that supports error correction code (ECC) and customizable read and write speeds, Toshiba's SmartNAND™ simplifies die-shrink transitions and allows designers to optimize system performance. SmartNAND operates with a standard NAND flash memory interface which simplifies the host-side design and application of advanced NAND in a range of applications.

Legacy Interface (SDR) and Toggle Interface (DDR 1.0) options are available as well a Reliable Mode (Pseudo SLC) to support high endurance for program and erase operations.
SmartNAND offers the ability to partition the memory array into both Standard Mode (MLC) and "Reliable Mode" (Pseudo-SLC). Reliable Mode significantly increases the endurance of the MLC device. This provides a more cost effective SLC solution.
SmartNAND Key Features
- No ECC required by the host*
- Reliable Mode (Pseudo SLC) to support higher endurance and faster program and erase operations
- Speed performance optimization with customizable modes for read and program operations
