MLC NAND with an Embedded Controller to Manage ECC

With an internal controller that supports error correction code (ECC) and customizable read and write speeds, Toshiba's SmartNAND™ simplifies die-shrink transitions and allows designers to optimize system performance. SmartNAND simplifies the host-side design and application of advanced NAND in a range of applications such as portable media players, tablet PCs, digital TVs, set-top-boxes, and other devices that require high-density, non-volatile memory.

Future PhoneTo support high endurance for program and erase operations, Legacy Interface (SDR), Toggle Interface (DDR 1.0) and a Reliable Mode (Pseudo SLC) options are available. SmartNAND offers the ability to partition the memory array into both Standard Mode (MLC) and Reliable Mode - Reliable Mode significantly increases the endurance of the MLC device -for a more cost effective SLC solution.
