Customer Support Engineer

Toshiba America currently has a Customer Support Engineer position in its Customer Technical Support department in San Jose, CA office. This engineer works with customers during their qualification of Toshiba SSD and HDD products and when these products are shipped to customers for their production. He operates in a multi-cultural, inter-disciplinary environment where teamwork, communication and customer interaction skills are mandatory to win qualification of Toshiba products at key customers and to support revenue shipments of products.


Required Experience:

  • Conduct technical meetings on current and future storage product lines
  • Provide technical documents and explanations to customers and internal teams
  • Work with the customer and Japan teams to develop joint qualification plans, determine required equipment and develop schedules to meet the customer's needs
  • Diagnose, debug and document customer technical issues to facilitate solutions and closure of issues
  • Track customer technical requirements to provide to Marketing, Sales, Japan Engineering and Product Planning teams
  • Develop technical presentations materials
  • Track factory quality both at customer sites and Toshiba manufacturing sites
  • Provide quality reports to both customers and Japan quality teams
  • Perform preliminary failure analysis on drives which fail during qualifications and drives returned for urgent field issues
  • Generate reports and provide timely reporting to customers and internal teams
  • Track status on drives sent to Japan for further failure analysis
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned

    The candidate must be very familiar with SSD and HDD technologies, manufacturing and test processes and factory quality systems

  • Excellent knowledge of quality control tools, statistical process control and reliability prediction methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and customer engagement skills
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Production, Electrical, Electronics or Computer Science)
  • 5 plus years of experience in the HDD, SSD or computer industry
  • Have experience in using SAS and/or SATA protocol analyzers
