Toshiba Americas Sustainability Report 2012

The Toshiba Americas Sustainability Report 2012 provides a concise summary of environmental and CSR highlights for the Americas businesses and initiatives taking place on a regional level. It features five years of historical environmental data and follows the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) G3 Reporting Framework.

CSR Report

Since 2004, Toshiba Group has issued its CSR Report by integrating social reporting into its Environmental Report which it started publishing since 1998. In 2012 Toshiba Corp., along with Toshiba America, Inc., published the second annual North American edition of the CSR Report.

Environment Report 2012 provides Toshiba's stakeholders and other interested parties with an authoritative resource on Toshiba Group's environmental policies, plans, programs and activities.

Toshiba Takes a Stand on Conflict Minerals

Conflict minerals generally refer to tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold from mines and smelters that have directly or indirectly contributed to the financing of armed groups. Many of these armed groups are responsible for human rights violations. Specifically, some of the mines in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are controlled by militias responsible for atrocities that have been committed in that country's decades-long civil war, including acts of violence toward women and children. For humanitarian reasons, Toshiba supports the use of conflict-free minerals in its products. We have taken steps such as the development of a conflict minerals policy as well as surveying our suppliers to ensure sourcing of conflict-free minerals in the region.
