IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 15, 2012 — Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc., (TAEC)*, a committed leader that collaborates with technology companies to create breakthrough designs, has announced the addition of the TLP350H and TLP352 to its family of photocouplers. The new photocouplers utilize a new long-life LED for a guaranteed operating temperature of up to 125°C . The Toshiba TLP350H and TLP352 consist of a GaAIAs infrared light-emitting diode (LED) optically coupled to an integrated high-gain, high-speed photodetector IC chip.
Toshiba's TLP350H is a DIP8-package IC coupler that can directly drive a small to medium capacity IGBT and power MOSFET. This product is suitable for use in home appliances or devices that are required to operate in high temperature environments, including PV converters for solar applications, consumer applications including refrigeration and air conditioning, and factory automation applications such as motion control. Recently, there has been an increased use of bootstrap power supplies to drive photocouplers in order to achieve simplified design, thus increasing demand for lower current consumption in photocouplers. With a power supply current of 3.0 mA (maximum), the TLP350H offers the best power consumption in the industry.
Housed in a DIP8-package, the TLP352 can directly drive a middle-capacity IGBT or power MOSFET, and helps reduce dead time and improve efficiency in inverter circuits. Toshiba's TLP352 can be used in a wide range of products, including industrial devices used in environments of severe heat, home photo voltaic power systems, digital home appliances, measurement devices, and control devices.
According to Joseph Tso, business development manager for Toshiba's optoelectronics discrete business unit , "We designed this new family of chips to withstand extreme temperatures in order to meet the needs of a wide variety of applications, and give customers a high efficiency end product." |
