General Job Description
This position will design and develop various LED lighting products and related control systems for various lighting applications.
Electrical design entails analog / digital design, LED / driver interface study and EMI & thermal consideration. Contribute to cross functional project team composed of electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to develop products from concept into production. Participate in US organizations that establish standards for these products and obtain approval from regulatory bodies (UL/FCC/Energy Code) for US adaption of Toshiba products, including working with outsourced designers or laboratories to develop or modify new LED products to meet market requirements and technical standards with good quality.
Primary Functions and Responsibilities:
Design, develop and test all aspects of electrical and mechanical lighting equipment.
Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments.
Research and specify components.
Prepare product, manufacturing and test documentation.
Provide engineering support to the Sales Team
Familiar with UL, FCC and other standards, practices, and procedures within the lighting field.
Rely on experience and judgment with US approaches to plan and accomplish goals.
Perform a variety of liaison tasks with Japanese counterparts. Work under general supervision and report to an assigned Expatriate Engineering manager.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required to adapt products to American standards and sensibilities.
Requirements
Candidates should have a wide variety of knowledge of lighting equipment and related performance and regulatory standards and the quality control systems. Only Candidates with lamps and lighting fixture engineering background will be considered at this time.
Minimum Qualifications
5 to 8 years digital /analog/lighting fixture and design experience.
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
UL, FCC and other accepted lighting standards and practices common in US lighting industry
Knowledge of Die Cast standards
Knowledge of LED thermals
LED fixture experience
Familiar with American lighting customer requirements and standards
Preferred Qualifications
MSEE
Lighting designer for lighting engineer or architect
EMC / regulatory experience
Simulation tools (MCAD / SPICE)
Magnetics
Lighting controls (such as LED dimmer) knowledge
