INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPGRADING FIRMWARE IN THE TOSHIBA TR-600 COMPACT ISDN ROUTER 1. Backup your TR-600 configuration using one of the following two methods: o Use the Backup option from the Service Menu using your browser. o Using an FTP Client, download and save the file "/usr/config.bin" from the TR-600 to your desktop computer. 2. Installing the latest software using Windows: NOTE: Windows is NOT required, so if you are using another Operating System such as MacOS or UNIX, please make the necessary adjustments to these instructions or contact Toshiba NPD Technical support for assistance. * Download the file "install.bin" from the Toshiba NPD Web Site (follow the link for "support") and save it to your Windows Desktop or another location that is convenient for you. NOTE: Do NOT rename this file, because it will not upload to the TR-600 properly if the name is changed. Instead, put it in an appropriately named folder for easy identification. * Disconnect the Router from the LAN, but leave it connected to your desktop PC which you are using for configuration of the router. NOTE: This step is only required if other DHCP Clients on the LAN may be attempting to obtain DHCP configuration information from the router before you complete the firmware upgrade and configuration. * It is recommended that you clear the memory of the TR-600. * You may also find these steps to be easier if you configure your desktop computer as a DHCP Client. NOTE: To clear the memory of you TR-600, follow these steps: Turn the power off. Hold down the RED BUTTON on the rear of the unit. While holding the button, turn the power on. Hold the button until the POWER LED turns green. Release the button. The Router is now configured to factory defaults, including DHCP Server. NOTE: If you are using Windows 95, you may use WINIPCFG.EXE to automatically configure your DHCP settings without restarting Windows 95. Login using the "admin" ID leaving the password field blank. Select "Custom Setup" Select "System Configuration" Select "Setting Password" Enter the password and retype the password to confirm and click the the [OK] button.
