INSTRUCTIONS FOR UPGRADING FIRMWARE IN THE TOSHIBA TR-650 COMPACT ISDN ROUTER 1. Backup your TR-650 configuration using one of the following two methods: o Use the Backup option from the Service Menu using your browser. o Using an FTP Client, download and save the file "/usr/config.bin" from the TR-650 to your desktop computer. 2. Installing the latest firmware using Windows: NOTE: Windows is NOT required, so if you are using another Operating System such as MacOS or UNIX, please make the necessary adjustments to these instructions or contact Toshiba NPD Technical support for assistance. * Download the file "ss00313a.bin" from the Toshiba NPD Web Site (follow the link for "support") and save it to your Windows Desktop or another location that is convenient for you. NOTE: Do NOT rename this file, because it will not upload to the TR-650 properly if the name is changed. Instead, put it in an appropriately named folder for easy identification. * Disconnect the Router from the LAN, but leave it connected to your desktop PC which you are using for configuration of the router. NOTE: This step is only required if other DHCP Clients on the LAN may be attempting to obtain DHCP configuration information from the router before you complete the firmware upgrade and configuration. * It is recommended that you clear the memory of the TR-650. * You may also find these steps to be easier if you configure your desktop computer as a DHCP Client. Hold the button until the POWER LED turns green. Release the button. The Router is now configured to factory defaults, including DHCP Server. NOTE that you cannot rename this file before transferring it to the TR-650. If the filename is changed, the file will not upload correctly. * Start your FTP Client software. To use the default Microsoft FTP Client, type "ftp 192.168.0.1" as the MS-DOS prompt. * Login to the TR-650 as the user "admin". NOTE: this IS case sensitive.
