Toshiba America Electronic Components Adds Disk Products Division to its Operation; Product Offerings Now Include Hard Disk, CD-ROM and DVD Drives

IRVINE, Calif., March 25, 1998 - Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC) today announced that effective April 1, 1998, the Disk Products Division (DPD) of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. will merge with TAEC. This merger of operations is in concert with Toshiba Corporation's recent organizational moves to realign its companies into groups of like businesses to foster increased synergy.

The merger expands DPD and TAEC's product offerings to their OEM customer base. In addition to marketing technologically advanced semiconductors, integrated circuits, electron tubes and solid state devices, TAEC will also market Toshiba's industry-leading 2.5-inch hard drives, CD-ROM drives and DVD drives.
