The kit includes Adaptec® Easy CD Creator™ software and DirectCD™ for Windows™, making recording CDs user-friendly for all skill levels. Combining the Best of All Worlds
Toshiba, a leader in optical storage solutions, made the SD-R1002 combination drive fully backward compatible and compliant with DVD standards as presented by the DVD Forum. This cross-compatible drive provides consumers with an easy and efficient way to evolve with storage technology.

The drive reads CD-R/CD-RW media, which has a capacity of 650MB and can also read DVD-ROM software, which has a maximum capacity of 17GB per disc. The drive also features a fast writing speed of 4X for CD-R and CD-RW, and employs a full 24X speed maximum playback for CD-ROM and 4X for DVD-ROM. The SD-R1002 is a half-height drive that fits into all standard desktop computer drive bays. The drive measures 146mm (w) x 41.5mm (h) x 193mm (d), (5.7" x 1.6" x 7.6").

For the first time, Toshiba will sell the SD-R1002 direct, through easy-to-use online procurement. This first 1,000 orders through the Toshiba web site will receive a free media pack consisting of seven 650MB CD-R and three 650MB CD-RW discs, allowing customers to begin utilizing their drive immediately.
