Write/24X Read CD-R/CD-RW Drive SR-C8002 Further extending its mobile rewritable technology leadership to the popular CD-R/RW format, Toshiba has introduced the SR-C8002 slim-line CD-R/RW drive – now providing customers with a single source for a complete line of small, slim, light and low-power notebook storage solutions. Allowing greater flexibility and customization to customer profiles, the SR-C8002 completes the Toshiba collection of rewritable storage solutions for mobile PC OEMs. While Toshiba has focused on the slim-line combination drive as its primary rewritable format, the popular slim-line CD-R/RW format provides a simpler storage option at a lower price point for entry level or mid-range mobile customers. The DVD addition available with slim-line combination drives enables mobile PC manufacturers to offer that product as a value-sell upgrade in higher-end notebooks. Currently available in volume production to mobile PC manufacturers, the SR-C8002 slim-line CD-R/RW drive reads CD-R/CD-RW media with a capacity of 650MB. The drive features a fast-writing and read speed of 8X for CD-R and CD-RW and employs a full 24X speed maximum playback for CD-ROM.
