storage solutions designed to meet the needs of today’s computer users.
Toshiba provides optical products for both desktop and mobile computer systems,
while focusing on the mobile and emerging consumer electronics markets for its
hard disk drive product lines.
DVD-ROM
A founding developer of DVD, Toshiba brought to market one of the industry's
first DVD-ROM drives in 1997. Today, Toshiba markets DVD-ROM drives for both
desktop and portable computers. Toshiba customers appreciate the high-capacity
storage functionality of DVD, which allows them to enjoy interactive data,
digital video and audio playback capabilities. DVD-ROM media ranges in
capacities from 4.7GB – which is enough storage to hold full-length Hollywood
movie – to 17GB – which is enough capacity for several movies.
DVD-RAM
Toshiba developed DVD-RAM drives to provide computer users with a rewritable
storage technology that offers high-capacity data storage in a random access
format for reading, writing and erasing data. The most technically excellent DVD
rewritable format, DVD-RAM also is cost efficient when considering the amount of
storage for the price of the media – a mere penny per megabyte. Because of its
enormous storage capacity, Toshiba DVD-RAM drives are perfectly suited for
businesses and consumers needing a highly reliable storage device for
multimedia, backup and data archiving applications. In addition, DVD-RAM is
compatible with all DVD and CD formats.
COMBINATION CD-RW/DVD-ROM
The ideal optical storage product, Toshiba's CD-RW/DVD-ROM desktop and mobile
combination drives join the low-cost rewritability of a CD-RW drive with the
high-capacity storage and multimedia capabilities of DVD. Combination drives
offer "three-in-one" functionality with CD-R/CD-RW, DVD-ROM and CD-ROM
compatibility.
CD-R/CD-RW
Toshiba recently extended its mobile rewritable technology leadership to the
popular CD-R/RW format. Toshiba now offers slim-line CD-R/RW drive that provides
customers with a small, slim, light and low-power notebook storage solution for
mobile computer users.
Hard Disk Drives - 2.5-inch
Toshiba's focus on 2.5-inch hard disk drives for the mobile marketplace has
enabled the company to excel in developing products that meet the durability and
space/weight requirements of the mobile environment. With areal densities of up
to 35.1 gigabits per square inch, Toshiba continually leads the industry in
delivering mobile drives with best-in-class performance to meet customers'
needs. Toshiba's complete line of 2.5-inch drives range in capacities up to
60GB.
Hard Disk Drives - 1.8-inch
Toshiba extends the scope of its industry-leading hard disk drive (HDD) product
line with its 1.8-inch HDD series. With up to 20GB capacity, these drives offer
the industry’s highest areal density per platter at 22.38 gigabits per square
inch. Toshiba’s 1.8-inch drives feature a vital combination of more capacity,
higher performance, smaller footprint and greater shock resistance. These key
performance attributes turn these tiny drives into storage giants for portable
personal computers and provide a cost-effective storage solution for hand-held
mobile terminals, wearable computers, digital video cameras and car navigation
systems, especially when compared to traditional storage technologies such as
Flash and smaller footprint HDDs. Toshiba’s 1.8-inch HDDs are available in PC
Card Type II and ATA formats.
