TAIS may reject the return or deduct costs associated with: open packaging, missing parts, non original packaging, modification, abuse, misuse of the product or user negligence. Perfect size to transport with my laptop. Very fast 3.0 transfer of files. Very sturdy construction and is well made for heavy use. It does what it's suppose to do and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I bought this Canvio Slim II hard drive as a companion to my Toshiba Satellite laptop. Not only is there room to backup my entire laptop, but my desktop machine as well. The USB 3.0 interface is very fast, and the backups complete quickly. One reviewer stated that he could not restore a file from his backup during "Crunch Time" and gave it a low rating. This has nothing to do with the Toshiba drive, it is a limitation of the NTI Backup Now EZ software that comes with the drive. When you do a complete system backup with the NTI software, you cannot go back and restore single files--you can only do a complete system restore. However, if you do a file and folder backup, you can go back and restore individual files from those folders. Detailed instructions for the backup software are available at the NTI site. As for the Toshiba Canvio drive, it is a sturdy well made device. I like how the brushed aluminum finish matches my Toshiba laptop. It takes up very little space in the laptop case, and is always ready for use. The activity LED on the drive is blue when plugged into a USB 3.0 port, and white when plugged into a USB 2.0 port. Either way, it's quiet, efficient, and very portable--everything you could ask for.

This is a fantastic external hard drive, had no issues in setup and I have been moving files to and from my Macbook Pro (early 2011 custom build) with ease. Can not beat the value on this product, 1TB in a nicely designed case and a low price. Love it!

Model HDTD210XS3E1 for PC (Similar Model HDTD210XSMEA for Mac) ... Model Differences — Except for formatting (Windows OS NTSF or Mac OS Extended Journaled) both Models are exactly alike. The PC version comes with Windows/Mac software, and the Mac version comes with Mac only software. Since I was not interested in the software, I purchased by price & availability which was the PC version. Selecting from the wide market choices (G-Tech, WD, Seagate, Toshiba, LACie, Buffalo, etc) — Every HDD considered had numerous Pro/Con reviews making a selection difficult. After extensive research, studying Pro/Con reviews & Mfg websites, I finally selected this HDD. Originally shopping for a HDD with Thunderbolt & USB 3.0 connections, but the cost was over three times more. HDD color matched the iMac; USB 3.0 interface; Visibility of Power/Read/Write LED; Mfg providing more complete product specifications than others (HDD Speed @ 5400 rpm, Cache Buffer @ 8 MB); 3 Year warranty; Tech Support (Philippines) was available to answer specific questions. General Remarks — HDD design, appearance & function is elegant. It would be very beneficial if the Mfg provided more information on the device. I have tried to address items I found missing from the Mfg. HDD is provided with an 18” USB 3.0 cable (not including the connectors at either end); No protective feet on the underside where I added 4 small self-stick pads to reduce the chance of scratching the case. Optionally, Mfg offers a high quality Shielded Twisted Pair StarTech 3’ USB 3.0 cable. HDD Power use — USB 3.0 cable length of 18” reduces power loss to the HDD. HDD is rated at 5 VDC 1 amp, and uses 430 - 740 milli amps. Computers should deliver 900 milli amps on USB 3.0 & 500 milli amps on USB 2.0 HDD 5400 rpm speed possibly reduces the power requirements over 7500 rpm speeds. For computers with only USB 2.0 ports, a Y-cable may be necessary to provide needed current. Formatting — This process was easily accomplished using Apple Disk Utility. HDD formatted to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in ~15 seconds. Formatted HDD capacity is 999.86 GB with 999.20 GB available. Note that 664 MB of 7 Folders (Invisible) & 3 Files (Invisible) were initially created by the OS. LED Operation — LED is light Blue with USB 3.0 & light White with USB 2.0 LED serves as a Power/Read/Write indicator. During Read/Write operations the LED “Blinks” as needed. LED will “Blink” periodically even when the HDD is not in use. LED is “On” steady until the HDD goes to sleep due to inactivity. HDD will go to sleep after ~5 minutes of inactivity. During HDD inactivity, HDD randomly wakes from sleep every 5 - 20 min. HDD Operating Conditions — Brushed aluminum metal case gets comfortably warm (not hot) during operation. Operating in a quite setting, the faint “Whirring” of disk spinning & faint “Ticking” of head movement can be heard. HDD takes ~10 sec to mount and appear on the desktop. After properly unmounting the HDD, the LED will remain on for ~3 minutes. If the cable is removed prior to this time-out, the HDD will “Beep”. Real Time Backup Speed — Using USB 3.0 … ~20 GB of data was backed up using Apple TimeMachine in ~14 minutes.

The hard drive, while attractive with it's lights flashing, is not provided with instuctions so that the user can do anything with the files that are saved! The web site avoids providing a detailed user's manual or useful information beyond selling things. When I had "Crunch Time" and had to work with a file that was "backed-up", I could not access it. Instead, I had a message warning that changing the file would corrupt the drive beyone usefulness. What kind of a back up is this? What value?
