What a great computer. I've always bought Toshiba's and even my old one is still great. The only awful thing is the audio. The speakers are up by the lid hinge. Very tinny sounding. So disappointing since I watch alot of videos online

I have owned mine for about 2 months now and I love it!!! Upgrading it to Windows 8.1 through the Windows Store is a breeze. I haven't had any issues with it at all. It does everything I want it to do and more! I wish I could duplicate it so my friends and family would understand exactly why I love it!

This is the favorite out of the multiple of the laptops my family owns. Proficient with handling viruses, easy to use and straightforward, especially if you just trial and error, no problems with battery life or charging, and as an artist, the touchscreen is so much easier to use than a hookup penpad or the cursor. The only complaints are the audio, and the lack of a wide variety of applications that take advantage of the touchscreen.

I bought mine in December 2013. I also bought a 3 year warranty to top the toshiba manufacture warranty that came with it, so I am covered for 4 years. I have not had a problem with this laptop. It works perfect at all times. I did buy a toshiba 2 TB external drive for back-ups. I had some problems getting used to Windows 8.1, I called toshiba, he spent over an hour walking me through everything, and gave me time to take notes, (I am used to windows 7). After almost 6 months, still no issues with the touchscreen or anything. I use this for online college, selling online, I have ADD and usually have 8 to 10 tabs opened at once, and unless I have internet issues from my phone company, I never have a problem. My teenage daughters go on their sites with this, and it comes with a free windows security scan. I loved the support that I got from toshiba, and this laptop. I carry it all over, and it does get bangged up through my laptop bag (This is why I have a long warranty plan). I take pictures of everything, up to 300 pictures a week, they look so amazing and more detailed on this laptop. I have gotten addicted to the touch screen to manage my pictures as well, it makes the task so much quicker!! Another bonus, I can copy DVD's without any other programs, Windows 8.1 is set up to do it easier. Overall, it took me a few weeks to get used to windows 8.1 and I kept going back to my HP with fingerprint reader, but, now I only use this, and love it. It takes some time to adjust when upgrading, do not judge it until you have used it for at least 1 month. It starts up quickly every time and is connected to your FREE microsoft account for start up. Also, you can choose to keep a credit card on file through your microsoft account and buy apps that are not free, or there is an app to go straight to the toshiba store already programmed for you. Not only can you get updates from Microsoft for free, but Toshiba as well. The only thing I do not like is, I miss my fingerprint reader and have to remember my password (bad memory). This is a great buy and worth the money. If you have the option to get insurance, do so, touchscreens do break down more often.

I had an old Dell laptop that I used for a while. My son and I found this one with all it's features. And the price was within my range. This will be my first new laptop. Well it has been great. I say it has been because I spilled coffee in it! We are waiting for a new keyboard. My son is an IT tech. He feels that this will bring it back up and running. I will be praying that this will fix the problem. NO MORE COFFEE WITH MY LAPTOP!!!

I love my Toshiba Satellite Laptop. The features are great, the performance is great, so is the battery life. Over all the price is good for it to be a touchscreen. It get's the job done especially for my school work.

GREAT but has a bug in the sound card

Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Something is wrong with the sound when i plugged in my headphones it sounded like the speakers of the laptop and none of the enhancements were selected to be on in the sound settings there was no bass whatsoever and I selected "Disable all sound effects" and it seemed to fix the problem whenever it is on but only when immediate mode is on. Idk if it's a bug in the driver or some marketing scheme

I love the way this computer works. It's pretty fast. The touch screen is awesome. You can also use your mouse pointer if you don't want to use the touch screen. The only thing I'm not real crazy about is Windows 8. It's confusion trying to figure Windows 8. Maybe it's just because I'm used to Windows 7. I guess time will tell with Windows 8.

New to windows 8

Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I immediately fell in love with the new touch screen features when I was viewing the computer in the store. when I got home with the laptop I had struggled with some of the ways to touch drag & drop, But with all things practice makes perfect. After a few hours of playing around with it I got the hang of it and I love it. If your wanting something up to date, affordable & U use it for basic things then I highly recommend. I like the fact that the laptop doesn't get real hot when on for hours & that its light weight.

problems with cursor

POSTED BY: disappointed user
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Every time I sign into my laptop my cursor immediately disappears as soon as the start screen comes on. I've tried restarting it, completely shutting it down and as soon as i turn it back on and sign back in, poof, the cursor is gone again!!! This is VERY annoying/irritating even for someone who loves the touchscreen feature!!!

POSTED BY: Frustrated , Maine

Love this laptop, its my second Toshiba, however, there seems to be a flaw as I cannot use windows easy transfer, not transfer wirelessly. Toshiba says they would have to charge me to fix my brand new laptop, as it is a Microsoft issue, After contacting Microsoft they said they would have to charge me as it is Tohsiba's issue for the first 90 days. That and huge date and time box interfering in my work and my gaming. So, I have issues.

I find this touchscreen laptop very cool. I set our neighbors up with a computer and printer due to their high school age child. Totally new concept for the farmers. I found the laptop so cool I got the same one for my hubby and I. My dad got his girlfriend to get the same exact model also when her old computer crapped out. I am going from Windows XP to Windows 8.1. Aye! But I love a good challenge.

There is not a whole lot I can say that has not already been said about this basic laptop. The touchscreen has it's benefits but can be a real pain in the butt if you accidentally touch it while trying to work because of its sensitivity. The one thing that causes a lost star is the sound quality, or I should say, lack of. It sounds as if it is coming through two soup cans. Well, actually, the soup cans may sound better.

I always liked the brand Toshiba because I've owned one in the past and it lasted me for quite a few years. This computer actually performs very well. Some issues I have came across while owning this computer. Such as, I've got the blue screen when I was starting the computer and it had to restart. I tried the system restore which helped starting Windows more smoothly but now I can't access any of my apps for some reason. If I can just make this computer work right for me, this will be the best computer I've ever owned.

After much research and asking around, I decided to purchase a Toshiba laptop for a very good price. Since my purchase, I have not turned it off yet as I am continually finding new spiffy tricks to do with the touchscreen and Windows 8 software. Obviously, this particular model is the lowest price and least tricked out laptop Toshiba puts out;, but for me (a production assistant in the filming industry responsible for keeping up with tons of email and information required at lightning speed), it does everything I need and more. I am very happy and pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone. Superb product.

This is a great laptop for the price. At first I did not like it because of Windows 8.1. Coming from XP, I was completely lost. Couldn't make it do anything I wanted it to do. I found a free app "Classic Shell" which made it look like Windows 7, Windows XP, or Windows Vista. It does not change windows 8, only provides a desktop. With this app, I was in love with the Toshuiba laptop. Only thing I have had any problems with is Street Atlas. The USB drivers are not compatible with 8.1. By using an old USB driver, it worked fine. I think if it is possible, Toshiba should provide something similar to help out the people that need help with the Windows 8 GUI. It would make this laptop almost perfect.

I love my Toshiba Satellite C55t-A5222 Laptop, don't get me wrong, it has pretty great features, pretty good everything else, but this laptop is for BASIC use, without a doubt; As for the advanced user, you're not going to get good enough performance from this thing to be even remotely satisfied. Unfortunately, I'm an advanced user (a technician, and video editor), and this machine isn't nearly enough to meet my needs. The built-in webcam has extremely bad resolution, a variable frame rate (without a feature to maintain a static FPS recording), it has next to nothing in the way of speed and all-around acceptable performance capabilities once you use it for over a week or two, and you can easily tell, once used thoroughly, that this computer has a ton of bugs that weren't worked out too well before it's release. Another model (sadly) that wasn't beta tested anywhere near long enough before it was released... Sadly, while I do love my laptop (mostly because it's mine I suppose), I'd have to officially give it a 5/10 rating, which is horrible if you think about it. ...PS: To the person who's "been to techs and repair places etc" because of his/her mouse arrow disappearing until the next restart etc. ...There is literally a button, on the keyoard, that turns the arrow back on. Press [FN] + [F5] and there ya go! All fixed. (I'm not basing my review of trivial things like that, which are easily fixed. -Tenos

I hate this computer. The sound system is abysmal. The speakers have a hollow sound to them so I have to settle for listening to everything through headphones. I thought the touchscreen feature would be interesting and fun to use, but so far it has been nothing but a hassle. If anything accidently touches the screen it messes everything up. I have to figure out how to turn off the touch screen feature which brings me to my next point, there was no hard copy manual. They do have a manual loaded onto the computer but after having exited the manual I cannot find it again I don't like the keyboard (although thats due more to my own personal preferences). I hate that if you have more than one window open, they switch around on their own constantly. More recently everytime I unplug my computer from the outlet my computer shuts off. I checked and the battery is all the way in and each side is locked. The boot up time is terribly slow. The hibernate feature seems to turn the computer off. You have to click the power button for it to come back on, then wait for it to boot up, but it does take you back to where you were.

Took two of these computers back within 3 days.

My best friend and I are in college, and this was the second laptop within 4 years that we have purchased at the same time with the same brand. Within the first three days of my friend purchasing her laptop, the usb burned out after she tried to charge a device through one of the ports. Immediately when I got my laptop home, I noticed that I could not get the purple tutorial bar showing how to use the touch screen to move or go away. This took up the whole screen, so I couldn't navigate anywhere on my computer to try and resolve the issue myself. Needless to say, we both purchased two of the same laptops very similar to this Toshiba, elsewhere with a more reputable company. We both really liked the supposed features that came with this laptop, but we were very disappointed with the various problems associated with this particular laptop. The hassle of returning the product, the continued hunt, and late homework assignments proves this laptop is a lemon. THUMBS DOWN!

Touch screen stopped working after 3 months of light use. Have had multiple system failures. Have had to wipe clean the computer 2 times to regain any functionality. Sound, brightness, and mouse controls sporadically stop working. This is the worst electronic device I've ever purchased. I look forward to the day I can buy a new laptop and take this one out to a vacant field and go Office Space on it.

Only 3 months in use and already freezes. Mouse disappears, must un-plug then plug in to work it. When left idle, screensaver does not come on. I get a message that 'something is keeping it from operating properly'. This unit is used mainly for business use, no downloading or streaming of videos/movies. Touch pad very sensitive, when typing if my hand rests too close to it it will cause and error or a pop window to appear. I wish I could take it back for another model or different brand if need be. Too often it must be re-booted.

This laptop is by far the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. the battery life is terrible, its very slow, when I'm typing a paper for college, it jumps to a different page and lags and skips and it is just plain junk. After buying a spyware protection, it still also has a virus so whenever I try to look something up, I'm getting a lot of popups. As soon as I finish my degree, I'm 90% positive that I'm dragging it down the road behind my diesel pickup.
