This laptop is exactly what I was looking for. I primarily use this for school but I also like the games that were included on the laptop. Also having a number keyboard beside the letter keyboard is also a great option.

Awesome beginners laptop.

The Windows 8 takes a little getting used to although I'm sure with enough effort it can be mastered.

I have used Toshiba Satellite Laptops in and out of Combat Zones for 15 years. Toshiba never let me down!!! I have retired now and we are making a trip to Europe. Bought me this one to "Stay in Touch with Family and contacts while there. I have mirror imaged the desktop and all is working GREAT!

Great value

This laptop is a great computer for the money. I had to get a new laptop after the motherboard on my previous laptop went out (not a Toshiba). Hopefully, this computer will holdup better, as it was recommended to me by quite a few people. I do not like the mousepad on this computer, as it is not very sensitive and the texture of the pad does not allow one's thumb to slide across it. I have been using a wireless mouse when I have a lot of navigating to do. Overall, the laptop is basic and does exactly what I need it to do. (The only issue is Windows 8, which I feel is not designed to be on a computer, but for a tablet, but that does not effect the value of this computer.)

a feeling of quality

This laptop has the feel and appearance of quality and attention to detail. Keyboard has been a little difficult for me but I am not sure why yet. Touch and arrangement seem a little awkward

Good value and performance for the price

I bought one of these for my son and about a month later bought one for myself. So far the performance and features on this laptop work just fine and have had no issues. Time will tell........

getting used to it

This is our first laptop for our family. We are getting used to it, and find the convenience of it's portability a good thing, not negative. Windows 8 has taken time to get used to, but the only negative was not having a user manual in paper form to begin since just getting to the online form was challenging.

The performance for the laptop is about what you would accept for the price. Battery life is decent. I heard a lot of bad stuff about Windows 8, but I like it.

For it's price is a great Lap Top. Light, great battery life, full numeric keypad, great ram and HDD, still getting use to Windows 8 but getting along just fine. Only glitch are the speakers, they sound like my grandpa old battery radio. Have been Toshiba's Laptop user for the past 10 years, 8 laps bought and not thinking in buying any other brand.

So far I have enjoyed my laptop, it is easy to get around and I am learning new things daily. I would recommend it for new users like myself it seems to meet my needs and gives me hours of use.

My choice was this one or a Samsung. I bought the Samsung but had problems so exchanged for this one and am very very happy.

Laptop works fine; however, the speakers are horrible! Tinny, unintelligible sound...sad! In a day when multi-media is the name of the game this is not a positive.

Not as sleek as I'd like but a workhorse.

I bought a Toshiba because it had the most bang for the buck. Our previous laptop had an accident with a cup of hot tea and I was still paying on it. This meant that funds were low for a replacement. I like the Toshiba. It has enough memory for games and processes fairly quickly. Only two complaints. The area to the right of the keypad is very sensitive so any pressure on it pops another page onto the screen. Two, the keys feel somewhat loose, wobbly might be a better word. It is unfortunate that new laptops automatically come with Windows 8. As an OS, it is probably worse than Vista and that is saying something. It makes absolutely no sense to have a tablet based OS on a laptop. But this is not Toshiba's issue. I hope the update set for Christmas fixes some of the issues.

Working

My husband and I were in the market for an inexpensive laptop as my last laptop was broken by our 2 year old and we weren't looking for an expensive investment. I only need to surf the net, pay a few bills and occasionally download pictures. I have not had too many issues with this laptop. The keyboard is a little sticky and does not allow me to type to fast without an frequent missed key. Only HUGE issue is we purchased the laptop with Windows 8 and I HATE Windows 8.

The shift button sticks and I get caps until I can get it unstuck. The right click bar has to be pushed hard to get it to select or pushed up to 3 times hard. The volume does not go high enough for what I do for work as sometimes the voice I am listening to is spoken more softly than the volume can correct. I do not like that I can't disable the mouse pad from doing things I don't want it to do if I touch it in the wrong place. I have a feeling it won't hold up long to the heavy use I give it.

Not very user friendly

I didn't realize I'd have to download the operating system to an expensive 16KB flash drive before I could use the laptop. I didn't realize that windows 8 is so not user friendly. I didn't realize if I didn't use the laptop for a week it would loose all of its history including my wireless connection information. I didn't realize I'd have to buy virus protection after a month.
