Great laptop

Laptop is hardware and programs are wonderful. Can't say the same about Windows 8.1. Windows is very a very inconvenient adjustment from prior windows. To Toshiba would be well advised to consider loading Vista as an option....

This will be my 3rd Toshiba laptop...after a great deal of use, they need to be replaced! But, until I wear them out, they are great. Very reliable, Features that I need. I can't imagine getting any other brand!

Really like my laptop, but find it annoying using Windows 8. A lot of my old programs are not compatible and would be expensive to buy all new programs. Wish it was compatible with Windows 7.

This Satellite meets all my connectability needs, and then some. Will take some time to re-adapt to a flat keyboard, which is well laid out. Display and controls are great.

Easy use, quick to load, needs more USB ports, though.

Nice but querky laptop

I love the laptop but I am having trouble submitting answers and taking webinars as it does not connect to these - not sure why - I suppose I should contact tech support since I have a Lenovo laptop very similar with Win 8,1 and i5 processor and the Lenovo laptop as well as my desktop work well on these 2 issues. Other than these 2 items that I found so far in the past week everything else seems OK

This laptop is a great machine, the only thing that i am disjointed about is that the keyboard is not backbit.

I am very disappointed that it does not play DVDs without having to pay even more money. I thought it would when I bought it.

Getting slow

Laptop has been up until the last few days. It has gotten unbelievably slow. Click and wait! I have restarted it the last few times and that helped but it takes 15v minutes to restart. Not sure what is going on.

Okay laptop the only thing I don't like is that the shell can get scratch very easily. Also i'm not sure if its because of Windows 8 but every once and awhile my running programs will stop abruptly.

worst instructions ever

Altho my laptop is nice, was so frustrated trying to get it up and running. Start up process was confusing, and poorly presented. Do Toshiba's writers assume everyone is able to go to Toshiba.s website to find out how to use the new laptop. Very challenging to get logged on because I didn't have internet access yet - needed the manual to learn how yet the manual was only on the website. Couldn't you preload it so we could have some point of reference?

Decent laptop, but a few glitches

Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

Had this for a month. Had one major incident where the computer seemed to be off in its own little world, wouldn't accept command to shutdown, couldn't do anything. That's when I learned the battery couldn't be popped out, which I got used to doing on my previous Toshiba laptop. Also, the touchpad no longer works, despite downloading new driver, changing about:config settings in Firefox, or using Opera. Works at the start to enter password, then it goes away. Overall, it's a decent computer that works pretty much as I expected it to.

Keyboard is killing me

Overall rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

I have used many computers at home and work in my life and never had a problem typing This keyboard is very poor. You need to really hammer each key for it to register. I have never had a problem like this on any of the other 20 or so pcs I have used.

Keyboard Problems

Generally the laptop is fairly good, but not like my old Satellite A505. I purchased this now one to upgrade, but so far it is a downgrade. The power is there but the hardware is not aywhere near the quality of the old one. I Am sending it out for keyboard problem which I hope you can fix, if not I will throw it out and buy another brand after many years with Toshiba.

Giant mistake

It was a mistake to buy this on line. If I have played with it in the store I would not have purchased it. I have owned windows computers since V3.1. There are no words in the English language to describe how much I hate Windows 8.1 I doubt I will ever buy another windows computer. Either the OS or the computer is unstable. It keeps crashing. The touch tab is so sensitive that it is more aggravating than useful. I bought a mouse. I have relegated this computer to the train room to control my model railroad and have returned to using a Windows 7 computer, which interestingly is also a Toshiba laptop.
