New L55t

This is the 3rd Toshiba I have purchased. I was planning on purchasing an Apple but thought this would be better for me when I saw the price. My only issue is the price was deflated since you had to add products. which added almost $500 to the original advertised price . I am still having issues with Windows 8.1 and I purchased tech service so I'll have to have them come back in for help. Also this skydrive is different so many of my documents are hard to find but with everyday practice I guess I'll learn

First Laptop and Not Disappointed

After years of being a desktop user exclusively I decided to make the leap to a laptop for business/personal use. I'm very impressed with the performance although getting accustomed to Win 8.1 took a little time. I love the flexibility of being able to use a wireless mouse, the keyboard or the touchscreen to navigate around.

Excellent Productive Laptop

My previous laptop crashed after 6 years of use, so I bought the Toshiba Satellite L55t-A5186 Laptop to replace it. I am ecstatic with joy of the speed and power of it compared to my previous one. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Easy to use. Enjoy working with it very much. Learn something new every day. Lots of new features. Once you get use to it, it's a snap to use. Can't live without it.

Not sure if it is the computer or Windows 8.1 but I can not stay connected to the internet and need to reboot several times a day. My other laptop, a Sony Vaio stays connected. they both sit on my desk right by the router. Otherwise I like the computer.

Back in Toshiba country again

I'm really pleased at some of the features like boot on opening, and is my first time using a touch screen except for iPhone. I especially like how fast it opens websites and the speed up the boot process. Battery life is excellent. This has been a shakedown cruise to see if I want to use this machine in my tax business next season. The power brick cord frayed very quickly at the brick to machine cable intersection That took some duct tape to reinforce. Not a desirable trait. Unsightly after my handiwork. I'd definitely recommend this model to others.

Give you a 9 out of 10

Let me tell you what I don't like and then you'll know what I do like. * Don't like the highly polished monitor screen. * Don't like USB's on the side instead of back panel * Don't like monitor hookup on side

I don't like the keyboard. It feels nothing like a regular keyboard. I dislike it so much I purchased a OSB keyboard to use in its stead. I also dislike the operating system. I know this is not Toshiba's area but the creator of 8.1 should be taken to the woodshed. Other than that the speed, clarity of the laptop is super.

A good buy with a few problems

I have used a toshiba laptop earlier and have been happy with it. This laptop is high on performance. Boot-up time for windows 8.1 is around 10-15 secs. Touchscreen works like a charm. Battery life is good. Key spacing on keyboard could have been better or atleast consistent with earlier toshiba models. If you have typed on other laptops (Mac/Lenovo), then it will take some time to get used to typing on this one. Typing error rate will be high. This laptop is slightly on the heavier side. Biggest letdown is however, the mousepad/touchpad. The mouse buttons require a good amount of force to press. Mouse tracking is unreliable to the point of being frustrating. I think it is sensitive to even your palms hovering over the touchpad. I would recommend an external mouse for heavy mouse usage. I did not have this problem with my earlier toshiba or the current macbook. Performance-wise, the machine is recommended if you can live with an external mouse.

I am disappointed in the left and right mouse click functions of the touchpad.

The computer is good except for the T key. You have to hit it hard or it won't print.

Operating the laptop has been quite easy. Going from Vista to 8.1 has been a challenge. I do like the touchscreen application. I use both the mouse and the touchscreen. Each day I learn more. This is my second Toshiba laptop.

It proved to be an excellent buy for me. 8GB RAM with i5 at this price was great. Keyboard is excellent. I wish it had Bluetooth but never mind. Camera quality is good and windows 8.1 works like a charm on this laptop.

Toshiba Strange Keyboard

I would give this laptop 5 stars if the keyboard was laid out like my old one which was a standard layout. Also, the keys sometimes have to be hit rather had.

The Toshiba Satelline LT55t-A5156 met all my expectations. It has a sleek design with good HD screen. Response is quick. Additonal voice recognition software is a nice plus. With the Intel 5 procesor, laptop provides sufficient speed. I would recommend this machine.

Solid Machine

Solid machine, doesn't feel flimsy like others of similar design. Overall good performance and value for the price. Still has few to many unessential applications pre-installed for my liking. However it is much better than the number of unessential applications that you use to get on a new machine. Been impressed with the device so far. Wish you could both the VGA and HDMI ports at the same time but not surprising that its one or the other, given the type of graphics card. With all that said, general users will find this machine as a good value.

Just got my first blue screen of death, the thing isn't even a month old. I got a "DPC Watchdog Violation" Now I get to fix it. Oboy. I was playing a Microsoft card game called TriPeaks. Plus,a LOT of my tiles are sales sites. $$$ - What a waste. I can't say any of his has much to do with Toshiba, but this is not fun.

Good entry level laptop.

I was expecting to be compatible to my other laptops. There are a number of preferences that would make me continue with other manufacturers within the comparable price range.

New Toshiba

POSTED BY: FL Guy , Leesburg, FL
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I purchased this laptop to replace a seven year old Toshiba that was working fine, but was running Windows XP and was not upgradeable. Now that I am more familiar with Windows 8.1, I am more comfortable with the new laptop. My biggest problem is the operation of the keyboard. You have to strike the keys hard to get them to register and there appears to be a momentary time lag between striking the key and the computer registering it. I have disabled the touchscreen, but the problem persists. I would prefer the keys were backlit, but I did not consider this feature before purchasing this PC.

Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I thought this laptop would be much faster. It has an I5 processor, but it is not what I would call blazingly fast. Also, the keys on the keyboard are not very responsive. Unless the person typing hits the keys hard, letters will be missing. Lastly, this computer is loud. The fan seems to never shut off and makes a constant annoying noise. I do like the speakers which sound very good for a laptop.

Nice Computer, Too Much Junk Pre-installed!

POSTED BY: Bean Jean , Bismarck, ND
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

My computer is working wonderfully for email after my internet carrier helped me install the programs to make it work. I have three complaints: 1. I have to push hard on the keys; it has a hard touch compared to the other keyboards I have had, so I end up with lots of misspelled or missed words and jumping to something entirely different than what I was doing. 2. There is lots of JUNK pre-installed and much of it wants me to pay for security, search on the internet, brought in malware, shop. I don't appreciate any of it and I am thinking I have to pay a geek to remove the garbage. 3. Many of the things I want to use, delete all on the email trash, etc., have not been easily found, at least for me!

Challenging Keyboard

POSTED BY: Jenna , Bethlehem, CT
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I like the computer otherwise but I find that I really have to pound the keys. Other computers that I've had, including Toshibas, have had a much lighter touch. It's irritating enough that I wouldn't get another of these. If you have a heavy touch on the keypad, then no problems.
