Customer Reviews for W50

Wow - utterly WOW!

"I've owned Toshiba laptops for about twenty years or so, and my new W50 is, hands down, the best I've ever seen. From the beginning, they have each been a Tecra (or its equivalent at the time) with the fastest processor available, most RAM, and largest hard drive. I did opt for the 4K (3840 x 2160) screen and it is absolutely amazin'. I also chose gobs of RAM (just in case), and a SSD. The performance is spectacular. To say I'm, once again, a happy Toshiba camper would be understatement. My uses include the typical Microsoft Office products, the Adobe CS6 suite, a few statistical applications (SAS and SPSS for example), Maple, Mathematica, Camtasia, and more. Performance does NOT leave me wishing or wanting. Yes, the "brick" is a bit larger than I've used in the past, and a bit heavier, but it's also about twice the wattage and I'm reasonably sure the larger size has a lot to do with dissipating the heat generated by the voltage conversion."

Not Much Thought in this Design

"I previously Owned the 14" Screen Satellite M645-s4114, which is by the way a phenomenal laptop, seemingly having everything - Physical design, SOUND!, Display, Function, portability, Hardy and fast. I work in the cellular industry both in the office environment as well as in the field and a good all-around laptop is key to success. Now for My review of the W50-A laptop; The laptops screen is supposed to be only 1.5" larger than my previous 14" yet the W50 is only a longer screen and not taller at all. This is the first and most noticeable annoyance of this laptop, it's huge!!! and not portable besides this; the added length is not productive in any fashion unless an accountant is using it as the first 3" or more inches of the right side of the laptop is the number pad. The Mouse pad has been moved to within 3" of the left edge and front corner of this laptop and unlike the satellite the corner of the W50 is not sloped so if using the mouse pad the sharp front left corner of the laptop cuts into my palm as this is the only place to rest your hand (on the corner) in order to reach and use the mouse pad and click buttons. This becomes very painful by the end of the day!!! also because the screen has gotten so much wider to reach 15.6" screen size yet the mouse pad is taller but just as wide as my 14" laptop this causes the need for SW to accommodate pointer movement in access to physical hand movement."
