I absolutely love this laptop. Its everything I needed in one. The convenience of a conventional laptop and the fun of a touchscreen. More than enough memory. Battery life is decent, better than expected and better than my former laptop (dell). I don't have any complaints!

Very pleased!

This laptop is even better than I hoped for. It's fast, I had no real problems adjusting to the Windows 8.1 operating system and it has great features.

Great price and great computer

I'm an educator so budget was in the forfront of my decision. After much research, I went with the Toshiba. It is also a touch-screen. I needed it for my high schooler to do research and write research papers. It's been awesome! It has ports for thumb drives and has been a dream. THe HP I had before was never what I hoped it would be and died a few years later.

I LOVE this computer. Perhaps I'd have loved ANY computer after suffering for a decade with a horrible, slow, outdated desktop -- but I LOVE this computer. My only suggestion would be to make the "bump" on the F and J keys a bit more prominent, or maybe raised dashes from top to bottom on the key. Mine is hard to feel especially on the J key.

I bought this laptop to satisfy my everyday needs of being in touch for work and social far, my expectations have been exceeded. I had initially opted for a laptop with Windows 7 as I hated Windows 8 but my Toshiba has given me a completely different view of windows 8. I have 8.1 and so far, I AM LOVING IT!!!

Excellent Laptop

This is my second Toshiba Laptop within the last 3 to 4 years. Works Great, had to get use to using Windows 8 which is very different from Windows 7. Very fast startup and shutdown, like the display and touch screen feature. Overall, Laptop works very well.

Fantastic Touch Laptop

POSTED BY: SpyderByte , Indianapolis, IN
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Replaced a tablet PC with this, and it is a great upgrade. Touch screen is wonderful to use, especially with Windows 8 interface. Although it immediately needed BIOS updates on the first day of use, and Windows 8 had issues and needed a soft restore on the second day, the laptop itself is fast performance. My personal test is that I use Quickbooks 2014 and it is very slow to load on a desktop PC w/ 4GB ram, and this laptop handles it no problem. It does gaming pretty well considering the limited video processor. I would recommend this to anybody looking to upgrade, and I don't regard it as entry level either.

Awesome Laptop!

Compared to the rest of the laptops I have looked at with the same features, this laptop was very affordable and the touchscreen works very well for me. The speed is on par with more expensive offerings and the battery life is very good, sometimes as much as 8 hrs. if doing lite browsing..

At 1st was I was skeptical for the price and the AMD processor. Turns out the reason for concern was unfounded. Great performance. The touchscreen work flawlessly. No issues whatsoever with the hardware. Software could use a little tweaking if using MSFT Office products work to get it all loaded and aligned but once complete smooth sailing.

This computer gets the job done, however it is a good thing to have the touch screen and the arrows on the keyboard because the mouse can be temperamental and can frustrating at times. I have thought of getting an external mouse as using the touch screen isn't as convienent as a tablet and it leaves the screen a mess. I have only had it for a month, so as far as longterm that tale has not been told.

One of the most affordable touchscreen laptops. Performance is about par for the price. The worst thing about this laptop is it was only available with Windows8, the stupidest concept in a OS I've seen in a decade, if not ever. Also, I wish there was a dedicated volume and media control keys and the function keys, which are often used, would default to F functions.

Works well for the price

Too bad this model was discontinued so fast, we tired to buy a 2nd one but were unable to find any except overpriced used models. Now they only sell this model with an Intel chipset, that will not work for us (read below). Even though it has windows 8 (- one star for that, Win 7 is much better and still supported) it worked fairly easy once I put on Start 8 (start menu replacement). It has a touch screen although I doubt Ill even use it, not like it's a 4" phone you hold in one hand. This laptop worked with the Directv 2 PC program, apparently most Intel based laptop will no longer work, this one being AMD did work (something to do with Intel not supporting copy protection standards required for playback). I bought another Win 8 intel laptop and had to return it for this very reason. I like the size and feel of it, most laptops now are to thin and flimsy, a bump and the screen cracks. This laptop has to weight to it and seems well made. It did not have a ton of pre installed junk, just the normal selection of things including trial antivirus and office. Uninstalled all that kind of stuff and put on Open Office and AVG antivirus (both free, they should have just given you this to begin with and not given you worthless limited time programs). One tip: Go into the touch pad settings, turn off all the sideways swiping, muiltifinger gestures and backwards scrolling and it will be a big help. If not, any accidental move on the touchpad and you will have screens changing and programs opening for apparently no reason. Very annoying. The speed is good, programs open fast and it's fast to boot, even when shut down all the way. Those saying it was super slow, you likely did a big Win 8 update once you turned it on and connected to Windows Update. After most updates that updates, Windows can spend an hour or more building files in the background once the updates are say their are finished. This can make the machine very slow for apparently no reason, this has been a long running Windows issue, they should give notification while this process is going on so you know to expect reduced performance. If you can find one of these models, pick it up while you can. They seem to work better and be more compatible with older programs then the new Intel versions of this laptop they sell now.

We have own this laptop for over a month, it has been very serviceable for our home use. We use this product with a logitech wireless mouse or by touch screen and like the ease of switching back and forth with the two options. Navigation of the areas we use is very good. We would highly recommend this computer to others.

With little time for training, I'm finding it fairly easy to navigate between the touch screen option and the desktop environment. Really enjoying the touch screen for reading emails and Facebook. This is my first experience with Windows 8 and the touch screen experience.

This laptop is fine for what I need it for. I am no longer a power user and find this laptop meets all my needs for a home computer. I like it a lot but find switching between the apps and desktop a nuisance. I do not care for the apps and used the user manual to delete them but they come back. I use the laptop for specific purposes because I usually use my iPad and do not need all the apps when I am using this laptop. Also there needs to be a quick user guide to learn to use it without having to search the full user guide. Overall it is great and has all the power and storage I need. I replaced my Toshiba M65 that I really liked a lot. I had it about 9-10 years. It got to a point I could not install any more memory, could not install Windows 7 and other software and found it to be extremely slow. Otherwise I would still use it but I was afraid it was going to crash and I would lose my files. This laptop is great and I always buy Toshiba. Have had Toshiba Satellites since 1993 and recommended them many, many times to family and friends.

Touch Screen is Good

POSTED BY: Bertie44 , Charlotte NC
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

After finally finding my way to some understanding of Win 8.1, transitioning from XP, I have two complaints. One is that the screen is too reflective. It is extremely difficult to spend much time on the computer because of the eye strain caused by the reflection. It would be so much better to have a non-glare screen. I like the touch screen, however sometimes I want to use the mouse pad, and it is sometimes slow to respond. I am very annoyed by the frequent appearance of the 'charms' when I am doing other things. Also I frequently have to wait for the system to respond.

Windows 8.1

POSTED BY: kitten , Nilr, MI
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I really like Windows 8.1, but it has some bugs that need to be address. When I sign on to an app from the desk top, I get an error message and will not take me to the app. But if I sign on from the start menu it takes me to right to the next step to sign on. Also when moving the mouse from one point to another the charms will pop up and I am no where near them. This is really annoying when playing games.

Nice Laptop Mosr of the time

Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

This laptop is pretty nice, but browsers like firefox slow up a lot and give me the not responding message at the top of my screen on the browser. Also, when I'm using the mouse pad on the laptop the screen will switch back over to one of the apps instead of the desktop that I would currently be using. Besides those main things, I enjoy using the laptop overall.

Too early to conclude opinions

We bought the Toshiba during a vacation, and the time share has variable connection strength to the internet. So we can't determine if the jerky performance is the new Toshiba or the service. Otherwise, be are baffled by the sensitivity of the touch pad. All kinds of surprises await us as we use it, too numerous and too complicated to write about. We are older people, so a lot of the confusion is my fat fingers, and my wife's impatience. More later after we get home and have dependable service.

The price was right. We didn't want to spend much money on a Window's 8.1 computer due to the mixed reviews and not being sure if it was going to be right for us. It's doing what we wanted, teaching us Window's 8.1. We will be spending money on a better Toshiba with Window's 7. Our biggest complaint is with the keyboard which I would say is the worst ever used. Very let down with the keyboard but I guess Toshiba was expecting everybody to be using the touchscreen.

Nothing special

POSTED BY: Disgruntled1
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

The touchscreen works well enough, but when you try using the touchpad mouse, it either does not respond or it toggles back and forth between screens. Extremely annoying at times, and those times are way too frequent. Other than that, I guess it is ok for a cheaper laptop. It does get the job done.

Not Impressed

Lousy quality. The screen cracked in less than 10 days after purchase. We are unable to use the computer at all due to the screen jumping around. It randomly clicks on things. The computer was not mishandled in any way. When traveled with, the laptop was stowed in a laptop sleeve inside of a laptop backpack. I am extremely disappointed in the quality. I have NEVER been this disappointed in a laptop purchase.

Wasted my money on this one

POSTED BY: phil , FL
Overall rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

This has to be the slowest computer I've used since 1996. I often accidentally open a link or file twice because the computer does not respond at all for a few seconds. The touchscreen is nice, though. And the battery lasts long enough to get my work done very slowly. The machine did not cost very much--I just needed something to run Office and the internet. This product can't even do those things well. I have not yet reached out to Toshiba about correcting this. In the meantime, my kids have a new platform to play Minion Rush.

Not good at all
