I purchased and returned a number of laptops before staying with this Toshiba. I love this keyboard. I can actually see the letters and numbers much clearer than a number of other competitors. Thank you!

Nice But Wish Speakers Were Better

Very nice and easy to use laptop with plenty of features. Love Windows 8.1 now that I took time to learn how to use it. It boots up in seconds. The only drawback I have found is that the laptop speakers produce very poor sound, even when played through external speakers. I've been haunting the Toshiba forums, and this seems to be typical of new models.

I have owned Toshiba products previously and have always liked them. I like this one also. It does everything that I want it to. I am still becoming accostomed to Windows 8.1, but that is not the fault of the pc.

Love the touch screen feature. Saves from buying a mouse. Our first Toshiba, and we just love everything about it. Windows 8 is a pleasure to wok with. Thanks Toshiba for a great product.

Excelent for the money spent

I purchased this laptop for my son who is in college. I bought it in Dec. 2013. His worked so well that when my 7 year old Dell broke beyond cost of repair to new, I went and bought one for myself in Jan. 2014.

Best Choice

Love it! Really meets my needs. I use for school papers and personal use, and so far I am very happy. In the beginning, I had a few malfunctions but due to them being minor, I waited them out and they miraculously went away! Love the touchscreen, software, looks good, just everything about it is great.

Love touch screen

I type fairly fast and when I get started I have noticed that when I hit a key it sometimes does not type it. Also when using the curser it sometimes will send me back to the apps. Other than that I love my laptop!!

Affordable

Overall this laptop is a good value for the money. The software is adequate and it performs the basic functions I need as a small business owner. One thing I'm not crazy about is the fact that while I'm typing the mouse will occasionally "self click" and I'm typing somewhere else in my document. One other item that would take little to improve would be the speakers. They are very twangy and caused me to use an auxiliary speaker system so I could listen to my music. This is the second Toshiba I purchased. The first was a refurbished one for my son and they both seem to function satisfactorily.

New Laptop

POSTED BY: Char , Birmingham, AL
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

After the motherboard on my 3 year old laptop died I had to purchase a new one and didn't want to spend a ton of money since I primarily use my laptop for writing and surfing the net. This laptop suits that just fine. The touch screen is amazing, and I like that it allows you to use both the touch screen and the mouse. The only issue I have is that the start screen constantly runs/updates apps, and we are on a MiFi here since we can't get high speed internet so it eats up a bit of our allowance. I have removed some of the apps and hope that helps. Otherwise the start screen is great for finding help with the laptop and getting to the internet quickly. Overall I believe this is a solid laptop for the price, and if you're on the fence about getting a touch screen model I would highly recommend it.

great little laptop. Keys on keyboard are kind of cheap feeling, but that's okay

I'm still practicing and having a difficult time to close out of applications and getting to new ones. Also with Windows 8 it's really a learning experience. Good product for the money.

A better-than-decent laptop option --

The price was right on this computer, Win 8.1 works well via both the keyboard and touchscreen, performance has been good and the battery life has been a pleasant surprise. Two downside points: the keyboard is on the stiff and unresponsive side -- I am a relatively fast typist, yet find myself having to go back and re-type missing letters because I have not hit the key exactly 100 per cent dead-on. And the sound, as for example when I run Pandora through a good external amp and speakers, is downright cheap and tinny. But, I needed an inexpensive basic laptop, and I think I got a little better than that for my money --

Good for the value

I needed a laptop with basic functions- nothing fancy. This laptop deliver that. The battery life is just ok but so far the computer is completing what we need it to.

Cool touch screen!

POSTED BY: Shift , NH
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

My only interaction with Windows 8 up to now has been on a traditional desktop. It was confusing and cumbersome. But with Toshiba's laptop/touch screen it's been a great experience! A much more natural way to work and freedom from a mouse! Yet there if you want to use it.

Nice Value

I like the new Toshiba, I replaced a Toshiba that I have had for 7 years. The new one has a lot of nice features. The touch screen is nice but very sensitive, changes screens alot without much touching. Probably the only downside to the laptop so far. I also purchased one for my college student.

Tablet - not really

This la[top is ok, but it also h as a touchscreen, so the user interface is CLUNKY, programs are no longer easy to access, but hidden, The touch pad is aweful! It scrolls offscreen when you dont want it to, and then when you try to scroll it doesnt do anything! VERY ANNOYING!

Good but has a couple of Problems

POSTED BY: Chris , Hayward, CA
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I like this laptop but there are two irritating problems. The first is: after about an hour or so on the internet the mouse pad starts getting glitchy and then doesn't work. You then have to use the touch screen to do anything. The pad works great for a while then starts fading till its useless. The second problem is: any embedded video on a web page will not have sound. If you go to YouTube most of the time you have sound, but pages like yahoo there is no sound with the video. Not quite sure how to fix it. Everything else seems good. This is the 4th Toshiba in the family, and the most frustrating at times. I've been a happy customer up till now. I hope these bugs work will get better. Not quite sure if I could recommend this computer to someone else.

good with some flaws

POSTED BY: rog , entral MO
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

Will not HOLD correct time. Having to correct once a week, or so. The letters ,C and D on the manual key board will not register with normal typing pressure. I'm constantly having to go back and enter those letters harder. Time consuming and annoying. This is my second Toshiba lap top. The previous lap top did well for over 4 years. This one has flaws. HOW CAN I GET THESE FLAWS CORRECTED?

Nice entry computer

A nice computer for the price. Fairly quick, but no real demands. It is being used for minimal activities, email, internet,Facebook etc. Battery life seems pretty short however.

Keys not great

Worst performing keyboard

POSTED BY: Sammi , Sun City West,AZ
Overall rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

I much prefer Windows 7 to Windows 8 but my big complaint is with the keyboard. The A, S and L's over half the time do not print with normal pressure so I have to go back and correct every sentence that is written. I also dislike all the advertising that pops up.

Returned very poor product...

I had ordered my laptop online from best buy. it was shipped home and then wife shipped it to me in Afghanistand where im Deployed. I got my laptop and had it for 2 days. I had my wife call best buy and let them know i was returning laptop due to such poor very poor performance of laptop. Just to name a few of the issue it had. 1. if you openned more the one program at a time. Laptop would freeze. Setting set in control panel would not stay saved. you would set speakers and it would save, you would play one song and setting would go back to factory mode. Num lock would not work when you pressed key and light come on. you would have to turn it off to work. The mouse pointer would just go away when using it. you would have to clode program if it stayed open and did freeze to reset pointer. Windows media player would not work and would not respon when trying to use. I set window media player as default setting and it would not work. The computer was really really slow... I was so shock in how slow it was on the internet and offline when just using programs. This is the 5 Toshiba Laptop I have had... The ones before had small issues, but were able to over look. This product was no good and very sad about how your product work.... I will not be buying Toshiba any more....

Windows 8 and Toshiba

I would never buy a computer with Windows 8 installed if you paid me. This operating system is far to difficult. The old windows XP operating system is much better and easier to operate.
