Nice laptop and great value. The last Toshiba I had worked perfectly for 6 year with no problem what so ever.

I rarely write reviews of products, but my Toshiba Satellite C75D-A72386 laptop has been an outstanding purchase. I am retired on disability, and my finger coordination/accuracy has degraded. I was looking for a great keyboard that didn't require professional-level accuracy of keystrokes. I rejected quite a few laptops because their keyboards were too fussy and sensitive. This one was just right. I would give this machine 5 stars overall, except that the documentation did not mention that I could disable the keypad entirely by hitting the F5 key. Without that instruction up front, my wandering thumb or palm was making my poor keystroke accuracy horrible. It took several look-ups on GOOGLE to find how to disable the keypad. Our machine came loaded with 6 gigs of RAM and 500 gigs of hard drive storage, with a 17.3" screen. I find the unit to be light on my lap, fast, and responsive. The graphics are crisp and clear, and my only lasting complaint is that the sound/music of this configuration is a bit tin-like to my ear. Since I don't listen to music on my PC as a prime purpose, I don't deduct points for this. I understand there are workarounds for this, but it wasn't important enough to me to investigate further. The AMD A4 chipset with 6 gigs of RAM is extremely fast for the WORD and EXCEL and JPG uses that I use this machine for. The documentation didn't mention that Windows 8 can be bypassed with a free ClassicShell software that reintroduces a Windows 7 type menu. Nor did it mention that the windows key + X key moves you quickly to control panel, and command prompt as administrator. Toshiba could have made their start-up documentation more clear on these important points. The machine itself is a terrific deal overall, if music or movies are not your thing.
