This 17 inch laptop, is lightweight with a great display. I'll admit I was freaked out about learning windows 8, but seriously, once you get the hang of it, you will never want to go back to the 'old' way. Love this pc!

Great Laptop at a Great Price!

This laptop has been a real pleasure to work on. It starts up and shuts down quickly and is very reliable. I had not worked with Windows 8 before but I am also enjoying it. Great value for the money in this laptop.

would not buy windows 8.1 again!

windows 8.1 is a terrible operating system. I should have just bought a tablet. the Toshiba equipment is nice and good value for the money but the operating system is a nightmare. I replaced an old windows XP system and regret it every time I use windows 8.1!

Pleasant Surprise

POSTED BY: Four Eyes , McLeansboro, IL
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I bought this laptop because I wanted one that had a large screen, ample storage, and performed well. I got all of these and more. My old laptop ran way too hot, so I could never work with it on my lap without using a tray. With this machine, I don't think it ever gets above room temperature! I also like the keyboard with the "rubbery" feel to the keys. Well done, Toshiba!

I love my Laptop

I've waited quite a while for my Toshiba. After being involved in a laptop review at work where Toshiba proved to be the most durable and overall most versatile laptop for our use in an engineering group of approximately 150 engineers I purchased Toshiba LTs for my daughter in college and my granddaughter, then I retired, so my funding was limited but I finally got mine and I love it.

Excellent Buy

Fast start-up and shut down, sharp images and easy to use keyboard.Great price for a 17 inch computer. Don't like Windows 8.1 but I guess we're stuck with it no matter what computer you buy.

With laptop open, keyboard will not remain level, has a tendency to tilt towards rear. Need counter balance. Really not a big deal for me, just a suggestion. Still top computer.

This laptop was purchased to replace an older Dell desktop which served as the basis for our home network, and it has more than exceeded our needs. This is our second Toshiba, and they are both exceptional laptops.

Excellent value .. it's a larger laptop, but works well and will be great for traveling when we can go for a month or more and still be connected to everything we need.

Great keyboard, low power consumption, and crisp display. Running OpenSuSE 13.1 with Linux kernel 3.11.6 and AMD's fglrx graphics driver. Wlan works. Have not tried the pre-installed windows 8.1 yet. Wish there were more settings in the Bios.

My First Laptop

Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I received my new laptop as a gift from my son. I am having a little trouble adapting to it and getting the right settings for me. I am happy with the large screen. I have yet to obtain a mouse and mess up sometimes with the little pad. My granddaughter likes it so she can play games and of course she uses it better than I do. I am looking forward to a long and happy union with Toshiba.

Good Brand, Good Computer

I used Toshiba Satellite in the past. I had a A130-S6247. That computer lasted from January 30, 2007-December 29, 2013. It treated me well, and I ended up choosing another Toshiba Satellite brand over a Dell Inspiron because of the longevity. I know this laptop is going to last me a long time because I trust the brand. They make good computers. If there's a difficuly it's working with Windows 8 after using Vista for so long. I had to make adjustments so I feel comfortable with the computer. That took me two weeks. Afterward there's no problems. More space, faster speed, and top notch performatnce. There's nothing like it.

NOT my first Toshiba Laptop

POSTED BY: Dalmax , Freeport, Maine
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

This is my third Toshiba. I bought this because my last one I SO wore out in four years that the screen hinges were not conducting enough for me to see. It was hook up one of my monitor or upgrade. It is a sturdy feeling machine; I feel good about normal handling of it. Getting used to Windows 8 is a nuisance for someone (like me; but that isn't Toshiba's fault# who needed to plug in and get to work There are so many nuances to the new operating system that I spent the first month cursing and resurrecting my work. It's getting better. Overall, aside from the annoyances of dealing with touchy pads, new operating system, and having to transfer thousands of files, I do like it. The keyboard feels more substantial and I suspect that once *I* get use to everything I will be #much?) more satisfied.

I dinged the performance rating because I repeatedly get green screen when watching videos. I also experienced problems with Windows 8/ Explorer at several websites and have to revert to Chrome when I visit them.

This is a great computer at a low price. It's hard to find a 17" screen that's affordable, but here it is. I highly recommend this laptop.

One compliant I have is all the Popup advertising even with the popup blocker. Example you can down load the real player and there are other things that get downloaded you may not want. This is very aggravating. How can I by pass this problem???

While lap tops have been out for a while this is the first one I purchased. I have always use towers. I like that you can take this anywhere. The screen is easy to read. I still have to play with it to get it the way I want. Now what I hate about it. I installed a anti virus and it seems like it slows down while loading programs more then it should. I also hate the 8.1 program. It seems for some reason it doesn't work well with my home page of AT&T with yahoo. I do use this every day tho.

Had Dell XP desktop; switched to Toshiba laptop. Quite a difference in speed, which is great. Don't care for the built-in mouse so I'm using a regular wireless one.

Don't like Windows 8, can't use my existing printer without paying for an upgrade, pop-ups everywhere that are very annoying, had to purchase MS Office Suite because it didn't come with computer.

Okay laptop

POSTED BY: Bunny , Maple Shade, NJ
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I don't like Windows 8. I don't like the main window since I normally can't find what I'm looking for. I wanted to get Windows 7 but it wasn't offered in the laptop that I preferred. The battery only lasted a few hours, where my old one (Dell) would last most of the day. Rather disappointed and definitely dislike the Windows 8.

Nice laptop with easy to read 17 inch screen. Very quiet in operation; no bothersome fan noise. Good keyboard for typing. Very slow wi-fi performance - slower than iPad and other computers in our household.

Approaching mediocrity

POSTED BY: bobzilla , Dunedin, FL
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

Still trying to decipher Windows 8.1. It's trying to be too many things to too many people. The keyboard, compared to my old HP seems to require a certain toch to make it register.I'm constantly having to go back and fill in missing characters and spaces. And the spacebar has all but disappeared. The 1.5 is kind of slow, also.

Toshiba Satellite L75D

POSTED BY: firebyrd516 , Surf City, NC
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

For the price, I could not pass up a laptop with the features and screen size the L75D provided. However, my DVD does not work and is not recognized by Windows 8, although it is listed in the BIOS. After several changes to my registry edits, it has become apparent that it is simply a bad drive. This is my first round of Windows 8 and I absolutely hate it. I also do not like the fact that simple word processing software and other necessary software is no longer included. Another annoying problem is that the original windows boot disk is not included. Need to find a Toshiba repair center to fix my dvd drive, I guess.

expensive doorstop

POSTED BY: me
Overall rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

What seperates this laptop from being an excellent laptop to being an expensive door stop is Windows 8.1. There are no excuses for putting a horrible operating system on a beautiful machine. I have windows Vista on a Toshiba that I bought in 2007 and it works fine, at least better than this one.

absolutly the worst

POSTED BY: bilko , georgia
Overall rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

I am so disgusted with this laptop. The touch pad is absolutely sorry. The touch keys are so inconsistent, the left key sometimes I have to touch on the right side and then the next time I have to touch on the left side of the key. This is my second Toshiba and probably my last, my first Toshiba laptop is still much better than this one. Whom ever designed this laptop needs to look for employment in another field. I will never recommend a Toshiba laptop to anyone. This is ridiculous.

Not ga good unit...

POSTED BY: Charles , Kentucky

Laptop is slow, sluggish and stutters with most modern software, e.g. HD video editing, etc. which I was assured this machine could and/or would handle with all the ram inside.

hate it
