I buy this laptop for my mother, she is a teacher, she usually uses office, facebook, teacher software. You can use the laptop like a tablet or like a computer and is very portable. She really like it.

Great Value for the Price

You get a lot of computer for the low price with this laptop. I need a lightweight laptop for my business travel. Right now the hybrids and tablets cannot adequately accommodate the software that I must access and use on a regular basis. This laptop addresses my needs: 1) it is light weight, small, and portable 2) it has excellent wi-fi access [this was a major problem on my last laptop - a Sony Vaio] 3] it can accommodate my MS Office software bundle which cannot easily be done on tablets. Although there are hybrid options, they don't seem to be ready for prime time as of yet and they are pretty expensive compared to this product. 4) great price for a workhorse laptop. You won't find a better deal.

Love the laptop, Hate Windows 8

POSTED BY: Princess Shopper , Jacksonville, FL
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

The only reason the performance rating I gave isn't 5 stars is because of Windows 8 which, frankly, I think is unstable. BUT, this is a cool laptop for the price. I like the smaller size having been used to a 17" then a 15" screen. When I upgraded to Windows 8.1, I lost the touch screen. Toshiba customer support number was accessbile from their web site, which isn't always the case with companies these days. Support was wonderful and the problem quickly resolved.

Good value touch laptop

POSTED BY: Leelee
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

If you're looking for a touch laptop that you won't be using heavy processing programs on, it's hard to beat this value. While the Celeron processor and lack of a DVD drive are noticeably cost-cutting, there's many positives such as a dual-button touchpad, 5 point touchscreen, ethernet port, 3 USB inputs, and strong wi-fi card compared to most laptops. Some negatives: Battery life is poor, 4 hours at best, more like 3-3.5 hours. Not a big issue for me, but if you're a big traveler, can be an issue. And the battery is not upgradeable. At least the AC adapter is small. Keyboard is quite cheap. Keys are not raised much, and it's hard to type efficiently on this. The touch screen does malfunction often enough to be an annoyance, and requires a reboot to work properly again, as others have stated. This is with Windows 8, 8.1 and every driver/update tested. To conclude, if you're looking for a touch laptop on a budget, this is a good option.

Great travel/work computer. It's light and readily connects to traditional projection units. Not the fastest, but it is a workhorse.

I'm very satisfied

I do not install heavy programs or games. I use for college, internet, movies, music, photo editing and it has been very satisfying. I've had a toshiba netbook with better batery life, but this one is still good enough. I'm not having any problems with windows 8.

I prefer a small laptop for ease of travelling with carry on luggage. My new NB15T more than meets the requirement. I also like the type AC wifi standard. Very fast throughput with my AC router.

Perfect for College

POSTED BY: Janel , Detroit, MI
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

This is a perfect lightweight portable laptop for college classes.I tried a tablet but missed the efficiency and features of a laptop. This is just what I was looking for. Touchscreen is awesome. Battery life is 4 hours. Works perfectly for searching internet, streaming, downloading and uploading. Overall very satisfied! Also wanted to mention that the charger is smaller than ones I've seen which adds to lightweight portability around campus!

Issues

POSTED BY: Obtuse 1 , Roscommon, MI
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I like everything about this laptop so far, but it has some issues. I do not know what causes it, but every now and again, the screen and computer keys lock up forcing a shut down with the on/off control. the screen locks and several bubbles flash like someone is touching the screen at about 8 places on the screen and the keyboard will not function when the touch screen freezes.

It gets the job done

I have been using this for almost a month now and so far it has exceeded my expectations. The lightweight construction makes this machine easy to carry on my everyday thoroughfares. The only downside is battery life as I am forced to bring the charger all along. For document editing and other office tasks, you can't go wrong with this baby. And the price is absolutely right on the budget.

I love the size, touch screen and the length of battery life. I can go a couple of days before recharging. Still figuring out the touch screen. Would love it if there was a stylus that worked with it.

Satellite NB15t laptop

Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Overall it is a pretty good laptop. Windows 8.1 takes some getting used to. The touch screen ceases to function intermittently, which is why i didn't rate it 5 stars. Once past the 8.1 learning curve, and getting my software on it, it seems to be a nice little unit, very portable.

The Toshiba NB15T-A1302 fits nicely the need I had for a small-display laptop for use in connrecting to digital modes on my ham radio equipment. I like the 500 gB hard drive and 4 mB of RAM, something that one doesn't normally find at this price point. The only thing I am not happy with is that it does not come with a CD/DVD drive. I have never owned a laptop that did not have one, and did not even know that they made them without CD/DVD drives. Most of what I will be using it for is on the web, and the only CD product I may have to use and I can download it to a flash drive and add it to the computer that way. The computer responds quickly and the display is very clear and crisp.

best affordable portable computer

updating to 8.1 is supported by this laptop. Tried and could not get it to work. I went to the trouble shooting website and it wasn't on the list of laptops that supported the upgrade.

slowed down by windows 8

POSTED BY: vorteg , jupiter, fl
Overall rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

Its a nifty little notebook. I had a previous generation which was superb, but this one was so slow I had to return it--the full version of windows 8 with touch screen was too much for its processor and memory and it slowed down to a snail's pace.

Lousy Windows 8.0,8.1

POSTED BY: kj , Phoenix, AZ
Overall rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

The laptop would work just great except for Windows 8.0. The first thing I was asked to do was download Windows 8.1. Of course, the very first thing was to set up another e-mail account with MSN. Just another name and password I have to remember. Then I was to make a copy on a 16GB flashdrive to be able to restart it. I won't ever buy another PC with Windows. They change to often. Next will be an IPAD.

Several problems

I love the size, weight and it is touch screen or keyboard. I could update to 8.1 for free. I like that it has desktop screen and app screen. On the other hand we had to fix several gliches ourselves to keep everything working.

BAD EXPERIENCE

POSTED BY: funny , Greensboro, NC
Overall rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

I got this computer to surf the web in my bedroom. My bedroom is about 50' from my router. When I took it to use in the bedroom the router signal would go from 4 bars to no connection. The laptop was not being moved and I had another laptop in the same location that holds 4 bars. I put less than a week for how long I have been using this product, I have owned it for almost 2Mo. but, it will not do what it was purchased for so it hasn't been used.

I have a hard time to connect to wifi every time I go to a new place. My friend with has no problem in the same place. If you have the patience to spend 10-15 minutes to try to connect to wireless, go get this laptop.

Had high hopes.

The best deal around. Lots of extras for the money. Around $100 cheaper! It didnt take a month before I started loosing keys. Lost 5 in six months. The touch screen quits being responsive after just a short time, requiring a restart. Couldn't find a quick fix online. What good is saving any money if it just wont function? You know this is tested, a decision is made and this was shipped. That has really affected the way I view Toshiba.

Worst laptop ever!
