High Quality Laptop

I recently purchased a Sony Viao "Fit" laptop but it had serious known WiFi issues. I returned it and purchased this laptop, and I am very impressed with this beautiful brushed aluminum model. It is a very well built laptop featuring the 4th generation Intel ultra low voltage processor and a strong Intel Centrino wireless adapter. The display resolution is excellent and the hard drive and memory are more than adequate to handle most tasks. Including the Optical drive was a huge selling feature for me. The keyboard is well lit and very responsive. The Harman/Kardon speakers sound great! The only thing missing is a hard drive indicator light to monitor program/system loading.

Getting used to smaller screen from 24" but looks good. Nice to take in the other room when my wife watching something on TV and I can watch a movie. Very impressed with the profromance, tried an HP but was to slow, very glad I got this one, alittle more money but worth it. would buy another. Wife wanted me to buy an Apple but didn't want spend that much money, she works for Apple.I am happy with this.

This laptop will do everything I want it to do, and without wondering "What do I do next?" It is light, easy to use, and the battery life is good. So far, it is doing everything I desire it to do with minimum effort on my part.

I purchased a Toshiba laptop to complete my last 9 classes in college, and because I will be moving. I needed a dependable laptop for my transition to make sure I have online access at all times. So far, I'm happy with my purchase.

Fast response, good battery life 5-6 hours, nice size and touch on lighted keyboard. Good port selections, nice to have a included cd/dvd player., Good metal body construction overall. Windows 8 is a great operating system once you take a little time to learn it. This is a Good Buy!

My old computer was a PC and I decided to replace it with this laptop. I am very satisfied with all aspects of this computer although I still have a lot to learn.

Great computer

This has all the features I wanted in a computer. I especially wanted to be able to view my DVDs without having to attach a separate player. HD resolution makes all graphics really pop and the processing is quick and responsive. Touch screen is easy to use and fun to navigate.

Great Laptop but sensitive

POSTED BY: Pey , Houston, TX
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

This is a really wonderful laptop with a lot of great features and memory. It has decent enough graphics for my games and is a well rounded computer for my school work too. The only problem I have with it is that the mouse is overly sensitive. It likes to switch windows and screens when I've barely even touched the pad. But besides this factor, this is a great laptop for home, work, and school.

Purchased the P55t Laptop

POSTED BY: Joe , San Diego, CA
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Just purchased this Toshiba P55t laptop in February and am just now getting to learn how to work with it. It is an awesomely sophisticated tool. What led me to the Toshiba brand was a cable modem I purchased for my previous computers in 2001. The thing is an old workhorse and has lasted thirteen years so far. One of the features I first noticed about this laptop is the strong, aluminum frame. It can take a lot of punishment being carried around, which is one thing I do a lot. Another good feature is the built-in DVD player. I have it readily available without having to have an exterior drive. I looked for this feature before deciding to buy it. Half of the competing laptops did not have one. The four USB drives is an excellent feature, two 2.0 and two 3.0. The 15.6 inch touchscreen is extremely convenient. The only thing I am disappointed with is the built-in battery situation. I do a lot of traveling and need the mobility without an AC source being available. I have around 4.5 hours of battery life before a recharge is necessary. It would be much better if I were able to swap out the battery pack with another battery pack on the fly. I am looking for a mobile battery backup (19V) -maybe from a sporting goods store/hunter supply store-to provide more mobile battery life. Overall, I am very highly satisfied with this laptop and its performance and features. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an outstanding laptop.. Yours sincerely, Joe

Premium Equipment

POSTED BY: Wolfgang , East Texas
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

Toshiba is making super equipment. The model I purchased is everything I had hoped it would be; easy to uses, top-of-the-line hardware and a really first class touch monitor. Battery life is actually better than I expected. The only downside to this computer is the Windows 8.1 operating system. It's not user friendly and still has bugs, but that's not Toshibas' fault.

Just what I needed

POSTED BY: clydesdaledan , Naples, Italy
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

I wanted fast, sturdy, and reliable, and this meets all criteria. I wasn't looking for touch screen, but I'm glad i have it. The display is excellent and even the sound is good. I use it for web surfing and MS Office apps. I like the aluminum construction and the backlit keyboard. Touchpad works well; the one on my Dell was a joke. Battery seems like it will provide a few hours and last. Love the number keypad and the absence of function keys across the top. Get rid of NUM LOCK and we're set.

Good machine

POSTED BY: FD , Wichita KS
Overall rating: 5 out of 5 5 out of 5

One of the few machines that offered all the features I wanted, various ports (SD, VGA, HDMI, etc), lighted keys, reasonable battery life but it's not as good as Apple. Touch pad is difficult to lock on to a screen sprite like a scroll down button, but I don't get false re-directions from it like I did on my HP. Stainless steel case a big plus, much better than plastic.

I've had this laptop for a couple of days and am very impressed with it. I love the design and feel of it and the quick 8GB of RAM. I am not at all a fan of Windows 8, but have to get used to it because Microsoft isn't producing many Windows 7 computers now-a-days. Overall 4.3/5, and would recommend to a friend.

Very nice!

Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

I like the thickness of the laptop - very thin. Touch panel has been a highlight of using Windows 8. The keyboard is very good as well. I have not had the keyboard and touch pad creating issues when having hands on keyboard and palms on pad. Seems a little slow but that may be Windows 8. Do I enjoy this machine better than my office laptop that is much more expensive.

Low memory and bad OS hinder a great value Laptop.

The Toshiba Satellite P55t-A5202 is an excellent rig for the money, mostly. It has all the features you need (touchscreen) and some you don't (optical drive). The P55t-A5202 would be just about perfect if it had more memory and a better OS. I know Windos 8.1 is the standard, but even with a touch screen I had to go several steps to get where I needed. Other manufacturers have provided a means to side step the horrible Metro screen, here you'll need to search for a 3rd party option. Also, the 8 gigs of ram doesn't quite cut it for programs beyond the app variety. There's also a great deal of processes and programs natively running in the background out of the box. I'm not saying this comes loaded with bloat ware, but there are a lot of processes sucking up system resources. Overlooking those two gripes, this is an excellent machine for the money. I would suggest a ram upgrade which is made easy thanks to the one screw access panel. I would recommend at least 16 gigs to smooth things out and keeping a screen cleaner rag handy. The display is bright and crisp, but the touch capability which is a necessity for the horrid Win 8.1 will show smudges aplenty especially with help from kids. Overall a good laptop that could have been great.

Excellent Value

Good bang for the buck. Screen is crisp and bright. My acid test app is Adobe Lightroom which runs almost as well as on my Mac. My only negative is the keyboard. I can't quite pin it down - I'm not a touch typist but i don't find it as comfortable as my Apple desktop keyboard or a HP I used to own both of which had similar style keys (chicklets). They just seem very slippery. Still would recommend it.

Some getting used to..

Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

The look, feel and specs are all great but when you get to using it if you are not a power user you get thrown off by the way the mouse takes over and even stops working (still not sure why). Some of the keyboard keys also are not as sensitive as others which seems odd.

Great Laptop

I mostly use it for school work. So far everything has been good. No issues. Sleek, easy to clean, fast for the most part. Longest boot time was 10.8 seconds. Mostly boots between 2-5 seconds. Touch screen is nice, easy to clean the screen. I think the webcam could be a little better. The Function Key thing is an issue though, takes up alot of speed on boot compared to other apps and processes.

I like my new laptop. I need to spend more time reviewing all the new features of Windows 8. I did have a problem with the CAPs lock and NUM lock, but they cured themselves somehow. Very good technical help.

Windows 8.1 is a bust. Should offer no charge access to Windows 7. Touch pad does not function well; left and right click rough and not reliable. As a touch machine one has to tolerate a dirty screen.

Slow features in my new Toshiba

POSTED BY: Lucho , Houston, TX
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I bought this Toshiba with a processor i5, 2.3 Ghz, and 8 Gb in RAM with Windows 8 expecting to have a fast processing capacity to enhance my productivity. But, it is everything but fast. It is slow, and even with simple tasks such as: windows explorer, chrome and internet explorer working toghether. It restartes by itself like 3 times for errors founds, and sometimes when I turn it on, the main screen to input the password shows ful blue with nothing more. In summary I have had my worst technological experience with this laptop.

A Mess!

POSTED BY: Bee Cee , Philadelphia
Overall rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

The Toshiba Satellite P55t-A5202 has much glare to the screen, not a quality screen, internal connectivity to internet is poor, components of connectivity are not consistent. The dvd drive is noisy. There is a low clicking noise when in use. This laptop is overpriced based on its performance. On a positive note, the keyboard is adequate.

Expected to have to learn new OS but hampered by unfamiliar Toshiba junk apps, especially those requiring signups with no exit when launched. Touch screen unpredictable. Nice keyboard.
