There is a lot to like in the P755-S5265, good keyboard with number keys, when you press a key the keyboard illuminates for night time entry. Screen looks really good, although I would have preferred a higher resolution. But most of all, its FAST. Spreadsheets, documents, pictures almost instantaneous, EQ game plays quicker than on my gaming machine. For what we wanted, definitely a great buy!

As a student, I needed a laptop primarily for creating webpages and being able to run other programs that require lots of processing power and RAM . This laptop came with a great processor (Intel I5), lots of RAM (6GB), and lots of HD (over 600 GB). I love the raised keys with the ability to turn on the lights for those times it's a little dark in the room. It feels sturdy! The audio sounds great! I've played movies from my laptop using my HDMI connection to show on my HDTV and it plays great! In my opinion, it's the best value overall.

Love it!

I love this luxurious laptop! The back light on the keyboard is an excellent feature allowing one to feel extremely classy. The outside shell is gorgeous not leaving fingerprints. I have encumbered some problems but as a technical person I assure you the problem is with Windows 7 not the laptop. I am hoping that it will allow me to sync with my IPOD. I am aware that their is a feature relating to the IPOD that was not installed on this laptop. I wish Toshiba would have put backup CD's, but like everyone else they want you to pay them to backup your laptop.

I have to say, I have researched many laptops as I'm the Owner of an IT Franchise classified as the "Fastest Growing IT Company in the Nation". I would have to say, for the money, this laptop is far superior to any other laptop on the market. The Toshiba line has been very reliable and consistant. There are a few models that aren't as well built as they should, but for the most part, Toshiba has provided more reliable laptops in the past 2 years than any other manufacturer. Thank you Toshiba for a great business laptop with excellent features.

After one month of use I'm very pleased with my new laptop overall... even though I'm still learning about some of the features. The keyboard is well designed and the back-lit keyboard is really wonderful. I'm still struggling somewhat with the slick keys so I have to touch keys with caution. The USB ports are up front and on the sides and they tend to get in my way if I'm doing a lot of things at once. There are four ports and one is a 3.0. My friend is an IT expert and she suggested Toshiba. I like my Toshiba and I think I made a wise choice.

I had been using a Toshiba Satellite I purchased in 2005. Of course, it was slow & outdated. I researched several different laps but decided to stick with Toshiba because I loved my old one. I love the back-lit keyboard, Harman/Kardon speakers & especially the speed. Toshiba forever!

This computer has been a very satisfying investment for me. So far I have had no problems with this laptop. It runs well and can handle being used for long periods of time without overheating, actually with very little heat generated at all. I have also been very impressed with the battery life, I can detect no measurable difference in performance while running off of battery verses plugged in. Over all very great computer and I am well pleased with it.

Excellent value for the features. Very attractive. This is my second Toshiba laptop. I have had 2 other brands in between, and prefer Toshiba. I was hoping the i5 would be faster, and in some cases it is, but others it is not, perhaps it's my carrier's fault. But overall, I am very satisfied.

I have had this laptop for a week now and I am so pleased with it. It has a beautiful feel to its keyboard and the backlit feature is excellent. The speakers are the best I have ever heard on a laptop but the magic truly happens when you plug in a pair of headphones and use the dolby advanced audio combined with maxx waves audio, it will amaze you! Once all the windows updates were installed the laptop performed effortlessly! I have 15 windows open (google chrome) and the i5 processor is running at below 10% it is so powerful and runs quiet with very little fan activity (it doesnt heat up at all). Watching movies with toshiba's resolution plus is excellent. The web cam is not the best but there is a clear sticker over it to protect it, once that is removed the quality is improved! that is the only slight downside plus the battery could be a bit better but when are we ever happy with our batteries! It has a facility called eco mode which improves battery time, also you have to remember this is a powerful machine and it depends how hard you make it work but I may buy the 12 cell battery to double the battery time! PS always calobrate your battery buy charging it fully then letting it run down fully, do that 3 times when new and also if its fully charged and its pluged in to the socket take out the battery that way it will last alot longer! Finally the platinum x2 finish gives a very classy look and has a very good feel to it I love it. It has so many good features you will love it too! This is an excellent laptop with a top of the range feel to it, THANK YOU TOSHIBA.

I started my search to replace my fine H/P DV6 laptop with a model that had a backlit keyboard, and found this one, with huge keycap fonts with a nice touch. It boots up & sleeps 5-10 times faster than the H/P, and coupled with the hard drive protection it is a great mobile unit. The on-screen function key displays and the USB charging features are great, too. This is my new brand!

As a grandmother and great-grandmother approaching the age of 75, I couldn't be happier with my new laptop. One of the biggest features at the top of my list is the back-lit keyboard -- it is so easy on the eyes. I type about 80 wpm and this keyboard is a dream; my fingers just fly. I love the ease when switching windows on the Internet -- another breeze. What I am really delighted about is my laptop came equipped with Microsoft Office Starter, which I find outstanding because having Word and Excel at my fingertips without having to buy a license is beyond a dream come true. This is my first experience with Windows 7 and it is a cinch to get around. I love my Satellite P755-S5265, and hope we have many years together. By far, I am so impressed with this product, its' speed is surreal and loaded with extras -- I am not a techy person by any means, but an individual who likes to really dig in and find out all she can about her new computer.

Nice laptop. It is lightweight but high powered. I like the backlite keyboard. One think that does not match the advertising is the battery life. It is supposed to be 6 hours but it last more like 4 hours. Not the finest truth in advertising.

I just bought this laptop so its a bit early to give a qualified review. So far it has been great, and I'm hoping to keep it for a long time. There does seem to be a lot of extra software installed that I will not use. I wish all that stuff was not on the computer, but I guess that's typical for new laptops. I can simply remove anything I don't use.

It's not a bad machine

POSTED BY: laptop user
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Pros: good specs for the price decent overall value comfortable screen resolution decent keyboard with LED backlight all the usual ports and slots and connections doesn't generate too much heat Cons: loaded with crapware and shovelware and useless software no restore media in box – burning backup discs is a hassle modest screen resolution not ideal for graphics use cooling fan could be a bit quieter – not terrible but not silent I bought this laptop as an inexpensive machine for word processing, note taking, e-mail and other basic tasks. It has more than enough horsepower and storage space for my needs – and plenty for basic photo and video use. The moderate screen resolution of 1366x768 is very easy on my eyes. No zooming required and no eyestrain. Keep in mind that many graphics oriented programs might fit better on a higher resolution display. The keyboard is functional and well spaced. The LED backlighting comes in handy as well. All in all, the P755-S5265 is not a bad machine. I hope it holds up for a year or two of regular use. I don't expect it to match the quality and durability of a Macbook Pro, but for the low price - I took a chance.

Outstanding but one shortfall

POSTED BY: Dino , The Villages, FL

The shortfall comes in the location and size of the delete keys. There are two keys but neither is any larger than normal keys and I have to look to find them. Maybe after a few more weeks, it will come more natural.

I like the speed and performance of this P755. I do not like the control panel at the top of the keyboard. It gets turned of very easily with the brush of the hand or the paw of my cat. It shuts of the wi-fi. I would prefer the controls we on the side of the PC not on the keyboard.

rough start

I am a 68 year old retired electronics tech and an admitted technophobe. This is my third Toshiba Satellite. My last one was an A105-S2031 with a Celeron M processor. Performance is terrific compared to the previous one. Hand position was a problem as the keyboard is off center due to the ten key keypad. I find the touchpad better than previous model but still iffy and often too sensitive. My greatest problem is getting used to Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. I was operating on XP and MS 98. Only real complaint is the Power On button is too bright and causes glare as it is in the middle of the unit under the screen. Also, the touchpad on light bar is distracting which is on all the time the touchpad is activated. Have been very satisfied with my two previous Satellite units and, when I get more familiar with this one, I am sure it will be great, too. Highly recommend this unit.

I bought this to replace my desktop and my 8 yr old toshiba laptop. This laptop with the i-5 does very good, no hanging. The only cons are that the power cord and USB are located very poorly, the drive door gets caught on them or are in the way which can get to be very annoying, I just ordered the usb docking station, hopefully that well take care of poor design issue.

Good comuter with Expected Toshiba Quality

This computer replaces a 4 year olf Toshiba Satellite and and even older Dell laptop. There have been lots of improvements such as a separate numeric keypad, better mouse pad, touch rather than press controls, superb sound system, and very fast browsing with a broadband connection. I still am having toruble using the souind recorder which I need for language lessons, and there are some web sites I cannot regisgter on that I had no problem with my older Satellite. One complaint of all new laptops is the glossy screen. It reflects everything. I can only use the computer in a room with curtains drawn. What ever happened to the flat or matte type of screen that produced no reflections? I also have not figured out how to use the USB3 port to charge my iPod Shuffle. I can get it to charge in sleep mode but not in on ode. Instructions could be more complete. Keyboard has a nice feel, but sometimes it stops working while writing emails. I have not figured out why and must reboot to correct the problem. Since I havde only had the computer for one month this is probably part of the learning curve. Some problems are Windows 7. I'd like to reduce the number of menu bars to a minimum but keep most of the buttons. I had very few problems with my other Satelliteand I'm looking forward to 4 or 5 years of no problems withis new computer.

The next day after I received the laptop toshiva, I started with the installation of necessary software, I had no problems whatsoever for it. I have two weeks working in Auto Cad, Word and Excel simultaneously, with an additional screen and responds dramatically. The atmosphere Windows 7 is not compatible with the Samsung Omnia II, for use as, but I failed to do so. You know how? The numeral keyboard does not work, I talk to your technical representative in Caracas - Venezuela and agreed to receive the equipment, notify you the date two days before. I will do it

Also have a Win 7 version that is only a year and a half old that has had several problems and currently is not networkable. I wanted a backlit 6 Gb RAM laptop and ended up getting another Toshiba because it met my requirements and I had some familiarity with Toshiba, but I considered competitors.

Im liking my P755-s5265 Satellite, Beautiful bright key board. I think every computer built should have a lighted key board. Mouse touch pad feels weird im hoping i just have to learn to set the senativity up some where. The only complaint so far is the CD player has no where to grab it when opening it and sliding it out also I think lap tops should have a power plug in on both sides of the computer.

After many months of researching laptops of several brands, I zeroed in on this one. I like pretty much everything about it, but the battery life. The computer simply shut down without any advance warning to plug it in and, I believe at the time, it had had about an hour's time remaining. Admittedly, it was in the first couple days. Maybe it takes some time to settle in. Time will tell. (FYI, I'm on battery now. At 80%, it says 2hr30min left. At 80%, there should be approximately 5 hours of the specified "up to" 6.46 hours left.) During my research process, I learned that laptops in general no longer come with recovery discs. I took the risk and made my own... very easily done. I had called Toshiba's customer service (friendly, informative & helpful) before I bought the laptop and asked how many discs would be needed. I didn't want to get home and then find out I didn't have the appropriate number or type. (It's 5 dvds, if you're curious, or an 8gb flashdrive, though a flash isn't recommended.) Let's see... what else? Well, one reviewer had mentioned to remove the plastic covering from the web cam, and I thought I had, but apparently there's an additional covering over just the camera itself, which is hard to see, and so I thought the camera was awful. Then I looked at it again (after some time of readjusting the camera settings) and discovered the extra covering. To me, the camera's just fine. The keyboard's nice. I like its bells and whistles: the backlighting, the shortcut buttons along the top, and the speakers are pretty clear. Finally, between getting my house properly wifi'd recently and using a new, faster laptop (this one), I'm amazed at the speed of it all. I used to get very annoyed watching(?) Youtube videos because of the constant stopping to buffer... No longer! Videos play very smoothly now; it's joy! Anyway, so far, I'm pretty happy with this.

I can't quite figure out the sleep and charge and I had to return the battery because it wouldn't hold a charge, but i got a new one the next day and the customer service was good. The new battery seems to hold a long charge especially using the ecosaver mode. The speakers aren't the best I've ever heard but they are loud, which is good for movies. This is my first laptop and I think it's pretty keen.

Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I have not been overly impressed by this laptop. It is OK - hasn't been bad but just not exceptional. I will say we don't do much more than email and internet. There are two things I find to be a nuisance [I haven't tried to contact Toshiba support to see if there are solutions yet]. One is the lighted keyboard: the backlight comes on when we type but it goes off quicker than we would like. But we haven't found a way to change how long before the backlight goes off. The other situation is the touchpad. Occasionally, the cursor does not respond to movement on the touchpad. And sometimes the movement of the cursor doesn't follow the movement on the touchpad. Even your survey site didn't work very well. I had no basis for evaluating battery life so I skipped it. When I clicked on the "preview your review," the screen just say there. After trying a couple more time without the screen appearing to change. I went to the top of the page and found a message that I had to put something for battery life.

Keyboard issues

Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

having used the P755-S5265 I have a couple of issues: keyboard layout is not user friendly. left shift key does not engages unless you go back and hold it in the middle of the key. Makes for a lot of frustation while typing. Right side control key sticks on a regular basis. computer did not come with a restore disk, and you must create your own restore disk that you dont know will work.

I have used other brands also in my 17 years at the fire station doing my normal job fire fighting and other dutys as the IT person. I was really disappointed on the speed of this laptop. I have other with basically the same specs and this one just seams slower. But I have not had the time to check and see what is running in the back ground that does not need to be. The sound could stand to go a little louder, (and yes I do have good hearing). For a average user it may be ok, but for a more power user it just seams slow... Thanks fireit

Runs good and so far no issues, eco mode is a new feature to me that I use to turn off the keyboard when needed. The cons: Trying to open it (there is no latch) which I am used to from my other Toshiba laptop, then the issue of finger prints from opening and closing it. Then the issue of the drive door opening, gets caught on the power cord or a USB, all connections are made from the sides, Toshiba claims it's desktop replacement, which I bought it for, but not enough USB for me so I purchased the Dynadock U which I am having issues with...

Every time I do updates the wifi kicks off and does not respond to "switch". It's happened twice and I've wasted hours searching forums and trying shot ini the dark solutions. Last time I was able to find a solution (disable all drivers associated and then restart and let it discover equipment) - this time that didn't work so I'm still searching - complete waste of time. PS. I work for software company and consider myself very versed in these type issues... but still am considering throwing this thing out the window.
