Very Pleased with my S55-A5294

I bought this unit because it had an i7 processor, 8GB memory and overall good technical specs for a very reasonable price. I also had a very good previous experience with a Toshiba laptop. I have been using the new laptop for 3 months, and am very happy with my choice! I have not had a problem of any kind, and the speed and usability are excellent.

Terrific Laptop

I purchased this laptop because XP will no longer be supported, and my previous laptop was to old to update. I have to say "thank you" to Microsoft, because I would not have purchased this outstanding laptop if XP was still being supported. This laptop is sooo much faster than my old one, and the graphics are outstanding! I got so much more computer than I had hoped for!

Cannot rate battery life as I use it as a PC. Would like to see a "card reader" installed...

Great except for Windows 8

Computer arrived as expected and is sleek and lighter than my old Toshiba. Definitely faster and has a plethora of options I haven't had a chance to explore. UNFORTUNATELY, laptop came with Windows 8 which is the WORST operating system I have EVER dealt with!!!!! Why this OS is even offered on non-touch screen products is beyond me?!?!? Have gone through immense stress trying to figure out what to do but have finally resolved to keep the machine and downloaded the Windows 7 mask. Sigh. Can only hope Windows 9 is a less abysmal failure and comes out soon. If the laptop lasts as long as my previous Satellite (7+ years) I will be very happy.

Not long enough

Good buy

The only reason this laptop did not rate five stars in every category is that the "special" function keys (all the f keys) stopped doing the tasks under the alternate setting and no where is there support to find the cause of this. It was a feature I enjoyed for a couple of weeks that quit working and I am sure I will get used to doing things like volume from the task bar as I used to.

First laptop I purchased would not initiate. After calling tech support, it was discovered I had a bad hard drive. It would not recognize Windows for the install! I returned that laptop and got another, which started up and installed properly. This was quite an inconvenience, since I wasted at least 3 hours with the first one! (I have started up many computers in the past, so it was not my lack of expertise!)

Sturdy & solid computing.

Seems sturdy however I had to return the first computer within 15 days so get the warranty. I like it better than my HP which lasted less than 3 years. However, time will tell. I like what Toshiba did with Windows 8 but I am now wishing I got the touch screen. Frequently the cursor unintentionally pulls up the right side panel and the clock when not desired and it obstructs my work.

3rd one I"ve owned

Bought for my wife to use. Only issue, is it was hacked within the first month even though it comes with anti-virus protection. Had to pay to have it cleaned.

Not bad for mid-priced machine

Several keys stick, b, c and s specifically, but not all the time. Speed average, minor gliches with programs like gmail on occasion, more so than with other computers

Worst Laptop Ever
