Total Satisfaction

I am extremely pleased with the performance of this laptop. With all the reviews I read and videos watched before making my final decision on buying this device, I knew it would be a great purchase, but I didn't know I'd love it this much. It boots up and shuts down really quickly, all media programs I use for music production and video editing perform great. The only grind I have about this device is the screen. The colours are not all that rich as with other brands and other Toshiba laptops. But besides that, I have no issues at all with this laptop.

Machine way better than OS

Really like my Toshiba laptop. Fairly intuitive, and when intuition fails onboard manuals are very helpful and easy to understand. I am less a fan of Windows 8.1 but had to leave XP at some point. Will update in a few months after I gain a bit more experience.

So the first one I received malfunctioned within days. After an hour conversation with Microsoft, it was a software issue. I just called the dealer back and received a replacement. I have had this one for five days and so far so good. It's fast. I like that.

My old Toshiba Satellite from 2005 is still going strong after all these years, but with XP, a Celeron, and only 2GB maximum memory, it was time to upgrade. So Santa brought me a new Satellite S55-A5364 for Christmas 2013. It has been a joy to use, light years ahead of my old one. I insisted on Toshiba because from my experience they have been the most dependable laptop out there. I'm glad I got the i7 processor for blazing speed and Bluetooth so I can use a BT mouse without using up any USB ports. The backlit keyboard is amazing and the touchpad is pretty good too. I didn't like the Metro interface on Windows 8.1 so I installed the freeware program called Classic Shell which makes it more like Windows 7. I highly recommend Classic Shell--Google it, download it and try it! I recommend Toshiba laptops to all my friends, even my 87-year-old uncle bought one, and he loves it.
