My past experience with Toshiba products were all good, but they were expensive compared to competitors. This laptop was competitively priced with better features and so far has proven to be as good as my past experience with Toshiba was.

Fantastic system

Just an awesome system. With the Core i7, 8GB DDR3 1600MHz memory and 1TB of disc, and the price; just incredible. Fast and very good looking machine. My third Toshiba and it continues to impress.

Very satisfied with Toshiba laptop. High quality, 15 inch screen, with an I-7 processor, 8 DDR, and TB of memory. The machine is super fast. Once you get used to Windows 8, it's even better. No problems noted. Very, very fast.

Really good

Once i downgraded it to windows 7 it became the perfect laptop. Toshiba is a really good company. 1 thing i dont really like is the cheap feel the edges have. Altough i hav an alienware this is really good for some gamers out there.

It was time for me to upgrade to a laptop with better performance. I researched a number of vendors and decided on Toshiba for a couple of reasons. The main reason being the i7 chip, quad core, exceptional storage and very easy to use keyboard.

I wish there was some sort of users manual--a paper version that I could flip through to answer some of my questions as they come up.

Very good price for value!

Very well designed, easy to use, very good price for value ratio. Excellent performance. The Toshiba software that comes with the Laptop could have been better. The DVD-RW is a bit loose. I'd recommend this product to every one.

Good Computer Poor Windows 8

POSTED BY: Bob , Ohio
Overall rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5

Nice laptop. My first one with a 10 key pad, Overall I like the computer I have always had Toshiba Laptops and never had a problem. The problem with this computer is Windoes 8. Cumbersome to use, way too much tiles/programs that want you to buy whatever they are selling. I would not buy another Windows 8 computer!

Great after replacing original laptop.

The original laptop keyboard randomly lost typed characters. After about 10 days, I tried the store sample and was convinced that the problem was with my laptop. The store had no unused replacements, so I returned my laptop to the store and bought another identical unit at another store. Wasted a good week of my time, but I am fully satisfied with my new laptop.

I have had this computer for a while and there is honestly only one thing I don't like about it.The touchpad isn't as responsive as it should be for multiple finger gestures. Other than that it has been great.

Good laptop EXCEPT for keyboard

POSTED BY: twenty-one , Austin, Tx
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

The features of this laptop are what I expeted, EXCEPT for the keyboard because it eems to mis letter that I tye. It requires frequent editing and rekeying of letters to fill in where my keystrokes have not been recognized during the first pass. I did not have this problem on my previous to Toshiba latops. It seems too be a problem with the way the keys are constructed or how they react to being pressed...??? I have fund other similr concerns epressed on the internet, but hav not seen a recommended slution except to buy a stand alone wireless keyboard., which defeats the whole laptop cncept as far as I am concerned.

Think again

Working in a one to one computer school I have been given many Toshiba computers for 7+years. I did not think twice about purchasing one for myself and all the school work I do at home. I like the 15.6" screen and battery life of my S855. However, with the higher price, I thought I was getting better quality. The keyboard is such poor quality. It is flimsy, sticks, and often locks up on me.

Good Laptop except for the keypad

Spoiled only by Windows 8 being installed

POSTED BY: Buffaloian , Buffalo, NY
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

This is my third Toshiba laptop. They are excellent machines! I wish I could have found one with Windows 7 installed but there were none to be found. So I purchased one with the truly awful Windows 8, thinking that it might not be as bad as I had heard. In fact it wasn't as bad as I'd heard, it was much much worse. The many and various popups and things that slide across the screen all the time simply serve to spoil my workflow. So I had to buy a copy of Windows 7 Pro, uninstall Win 8, and upgrade my Toshiba to Windows 7. Now I have a fabulous machine! It works like a dream!

Runs Rather Slow

Runs a lot slower than my previous Toshiba (A505-56965). I miss the backlit key board also.

Operating System dissatisfaction

POSTED BY: Me , California
Overall rating: 3 out of 5 3 out of 5

I am impressed with this laptop, but will have to purchase Windows 7 to replace The Windows 8 that came installed. If I had known how dissatisfied I would be with Windows 8 I would probably purchased a laptop with Windows 7 installed and spent the money that I will have to spend on upgrading the laptop.

Windows 8 ruined Toshiba

POSTED BY: 4timeToshibaOwner
Overall rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

I find windows 8 counterintuitive, frustrating and constatly worthy of my unbridled hate. In fact the learing curve is so steep that the laptop battery died while I was trying to figure out how exactly to use windows 8. An obtuse violence engendering platform that, quite frankly, is ruining Toshiba. This is my fourth Toshiba laptop I can promise you it will be my last.

Weak Wi-Fi and delay in performance

POSTED BY: Nuwanda , Ankara, TR
Overall rating: 2 out of 5 2 out of 5

The most important problem of this computer is its Realtek Wi-Fi card... It is really weak... I changed it with Intel 5300 Wi-Fi card and now I have no problem with wi-fi connection... On paper all the specifications of this computer is very well, but while working it has some delays... For example, when you open a IE window, you wait too much to see the window... But whenever operatiosn starts, this computer does its job very well... Only you wait more than normal before starting the job...

Overall rating: 1 out of 5 1 out of 5

The software and the lack of ability to maneuver through this machine is cumbersome to say the least . In short Windows 8 is the worst software I have ever encountered. Its even worse then Vista which was really bad. If I could return this computer I would and spend the extra $ and buy an Apple. Never been so frustrated in my life.
