Toshiba to Exhibit at the Carbon Capture & Hydrogen North American Technology Expositions

WEST ALLIS, WI: Toshiba American Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) is showcasing their carbon-neutral technology and innovations at the Carbon Capture & Hydrogen Technology Expositions in Houston, Texas, June 28-29, 2023.

Toshiba is bringing new renewable and clean energy solutions to market to help clients meet the growing demands of decarbonization. From carbon capture to hydrogen production and utilization, and thermal, geothermal, hydro, and nuclear solutions, the company is committed to building a sustainable future for the world.

While in Houston, Shane Hughes, Senior Manager from TAES, will present a case study that is on everyone’s minds—how to get to net-zero and lessons learned along the way. “The Journey to Net Zero” presentation in Toshiba’s booth will feature highlights from the Mikawa Carbon Capture Plant that has been consistently operating since September 2009. It is located in Omuta City, Fukuoka, Japan and is one of the longest running carbon capture pilot plants in the world. Toshiba developed the pilot plant in 2009, and in 2020 commissioned a demonstration plant at the same facility capturing more than 600 tons of CO2 per day.

Mr. Hughes will discuss the many lessons learned along the way with nearly 13,000 operating hours of testing, operating, and implementing best practices to achieve a successful post-combustion plant launch. The insights shared here can help other conference attendees learn how to maximize the value of CO2 solutions as they forge their own path to net-zero. “The Journey to Net Zero” will be presented twice each day of the show, from 10:30-10:45am and 1:30-1:45pm.

“We are excited to attend the Carbon Capture & Hydrogen Technology events and discuss TAES’s Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Solutions and their role in supporting decarbonization initiatives,” said Jeff Simmons, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Marketing & Sales, Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation. “The industry is balancing many challenges from aging infrastructure, increased regulatory pressures, and global competition to the transition to a carbon neutral future. Toshiba is helping our clients meet these challenges effectively by providing resilient, reliable, and sustainable solutions,” added Simmons.

Toshiba’s engineering legacy in manufacturing turbines and generators for the thermal, geothermal, nuclear, and hydro markets has provided customers resilient and reliable solutions for nearly 100 years.
