Toshiba’s EQP Global® Explosion Proof (XP) motor series is engineered to contain and manage internal explosions, effectively preventing the release of explosive gases and vapors into the environment. Built with a robust design and premium construction, these motors exceed UL and CSA standards for hazardous locations, enhancing operating life and minimizing maintenance and downtime. The EQP Global XP series is ideal for use in Class I, Division I, Group D, and Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F & G environments and has a temperature code rating of T3C (160˚C). With a steadfast commitment to quality, the EQP Global XP series delivers exceptional performance and reliability in demanding applications.

Overview

Rugged Construction

Cast iron frame, end brackets, conduit box, and fan cover enhance the motor’s strength and durability.

 

Drain and Breathers

Stainless steel drain and breathers at the lowest points of the motor frame prevent corrosion.

 

Ingress Protection

Non-sparking brass V-ring shaft slingers on both ends of the shaft provide IP56 protection against 100% humidity, enhancing motor durability, safety, and corrosion resistance in harsh environments.

 

Insulation with Wide Thermal Capability

Class F-rated insulation system with Class H varnish and magnet wire, along with a low-temperature rise at rated conditions, provides large thermal margins for extended life and reliability. The life of the insulation doubles for every 10 degrees run below the insulation rating.

 

Inverter Duty Rated

Designed for use with adjustable speed drives (ASD) for energy savings at optimum fan speed, it features an insulation system that meets NEMA MG1 Part 31 standards and can withstand sharp voltage spikes up to 2000 V in 0.1 μs.

 

Low Vibration

By exceeding NEMA® vibration requirements, mechanical integrity, and stability are preserved, extending motor and bearing life and reducing downtime for more reliable and efficient operation.

 

Oversized Bearings

Oversized 300 series bearings on both the drive and non-drive ends are used to enhance durability in diverse operating conditions, significantly extending motor service life and minimizing the risk of premature failure. These robust bearings enable the motor to last up to ten times longer than those with smaller bearings.

Insulated Bearings

  • An electric motor operating on an adjustable speed drive is at risk for premature bearing failure caused by stray currents. Experience indicates using insulated bearings on both ends of the motors is the most effective way to protect the motor from destructive currents. A high level of bearing protection is especially beneficial in applications where motor maintenance and replacement are difficult.
  • Extended Horsepower Capability

  • Extended horsepower capability allows a smaller motor to run at a higher horsepower than its baseline depending on the application requirements. This provides motor users potential cost savings while achieving the same motor performance.
  • Insulation with Wide Thermal Capability

  • Critical cooling motors utilize many Class H insulation materials in its winding designs, which provides increased thermal protection. These motors operate with a very low temperature rise at rated conditions, giving them a wide thermal margin and extended motor life.
  • Low Vibration

  • A vibration level exceeding NEMA MG1 requirements provides stability and durability by prolonging motor and bearing life and helping to reduce downtime.
