High-Torque Design

Design C Torque Output delivers a minimum Locked Rotor Torque of 200%, providing exceptional starting capability to handle difficult-to-start loads with ease. With a minimum Breakdown Torque of 200%, it powers through peak load demands, delivering reliable performance in heavy-duty applications.

 

Multi-Mount Terminal Box Design

The terminal box is engineered for maximum flexibility, enabling quick and straightforward field adjustments to accommodate F1, F2, or F3 mounting positions.

 

Rugged Construction

Cast iron finned frame and bearing brackets, a fabricated steel fan cover, and a low-noise fan are paired with a corrosion-resistant, severe-duty coating system that uses an alkyd resin primer and an acrylic enamel finish, provides protection in demanding outdoor environments.

 

Multiple Frame Mounting Capabilities

Features multi-mount capability for drop-in replacement, including dual mount S-586/587 and quad-mount B-587/588/589/5810, with horizontal and vertical mounting options. Includes vertical jacking bolts, four-position dowel holes, and ample clearance between the box and floor for easy connection.

 

Ingress Protection

The IP55 robust design effectively prevents the ingress of humidity, dust, dirt, and other environmental contaminants, providing reliable operation even in challenging conditions.

 

Oversized Bearings

Oversized 300 series bearings on both drive and non-drive ends enhance durability and extend motor service life.

 

Thermal Protection

Embedded 100 Ω platinum stator RTDs, two per phase terminated in an auxiliary box, help protect the motor’s insulation system from excessive heat and unsafe operation.

 

Humidity Protection

120V space heater is included in all frames.

 

Vibration Provisions

Designed for mounting vibration sensors (1/4” NPT) on each bearing bracket.

 

Drive Duty Compatibility 

The insulation meets NEMA MG1 Part 31 standards.  It can be paired with a UL-Listed Medium Voltage Drive, which features a motor-friendly multiphase neutral point clamped output.

Insulated Bearings

  • An electric motor operating on an adjustable speed drive is at risk for premature bearing failure caused by stray currents. Experience indicates using insulated bearings on both ends of the motors is the most effective way to protect the motor from destructive currents. A high level of bearing protection is especially beneficial in applications where motor maintenance and replacement are difficult.
  • Extended Horsepower Capability

  • Extended horsepower capability allows a smaller motor to run at a higher horsepower than its baseline depending on the application requirements. This provides motor users potential cost savings while achieving the same motor performance.
  • Insulation with Wide Thermal Capability

  • Critical cooling motors utilize many Class H insulation materials in its winding designs, which provides increased thermal protection. These motors operate with a very low temperature rise at rated conditions, giving them a wide thermal margin and extended motor life.
  • Low Vibration

  • A vibration level exceeding NEMA MG1 requirements provides stability and durability by prolonging motor and bearing life and helping to reduce downtime.
