Next-Generation Open Drip-Proof Dry Kiln Motor for the Lumber Industry Now Available from Toshiba

HOUSTON, TX — March 6, 2018 — Toshiba International Corporation (TIC) today announced the next-generation Open Drip-Proof (ODP) Dry Kiln Low Voltage Motor Series specifically designed for the harshest dry kiln environments. In response to the lumber industry’s increased drying temperatures, Toshiba now offers an open drip-proof product line. The ODP Dry Kiln Motor Series features a new and improved insulation system which allows the motors to run in higher ambient temperatures (115° and 135° C) for faster processing time and higher operational efficiency when paired with adjustable speed drives.

The ODP Dry Kiln Motor Series is the latest expansion to our motor catalog and newest motor rated for severe duty applications, said Mark Laber, Vice President and General Manager of the TIC Motors & Drives division. Customers in need of a durable and reliable motor series for lumber need look no further.

Designed for internal harsh environments of the lumber drying kilns, the motor’s corrosion resistance and high structural rigidity allow for exceptional performance in any dry kiln environment with high ambient temperatures, high humidity, and chemicals. Further benefits of the motor series include NEMA Premium Efficiency rating, cast iron construction, and H-class insulation system utilizing an epoxy varnish. The ODP Dry Kiln Motor Series is available in 5 to 25 horsepower.
