Toshiba International Corporation Introduces 1000 KVA G9000 Model Uninterruptible Power System

Toshiba International Corporation, HOUSTON, TX—July 1, 2014—Toshiba International Corporation now offers the ENERGY STAR-certified Toshiba G9000 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system in 1000 kVA/1000 kW capacity. The G9000 line of UPSs are true online, double-conversion UPS systems providing ultra-reliable power at up to 97% efficiency. This is the largest unit yet in the G9000 product line, and is ready to ship from the manufacturing and engineering facility in Houston, TX.

The Toshiba G9000 UPS line is purpose-built from the ground up to allow for flexible, custom installations for data centers, co-locations, call centers, and financial institutions. The addition of this new model brings the G9000 product line to include capacities of 100, 160, and 225 at .9 PF, 300, 500, 750, and now 1000 kVA at unity PF. They are designed for stand-alone or parallel use in up to eight unit configurations, without requiring paralleling or load sharing intelligence in the switchgear cabinet.

Using Toshiba IGBT technology in the rectifier/converter, DC/DC chopper, and inverter sections, the new models' double-conversion topology provides an AC/DC/AC efficiency of 97% at loads from 50% to 100%. Even at 20% loading, the efficiency remains greater than 95%. This industry-leading performance makes the G9000 the perfect solution for redundant parallel systems where loads are typically 30 to 40%. The all-IGBT design also eliminates the need for a front-end harmonic filter and produces less than 3% input current total harmonic distortion.

The energy-efficient design of the G9000 significantly lowers operational expenses in comparison to traditional requirements to operate a UPS. The exceptional dynamic response of the inverter eliminates the need for an output transformer, improving efficiency and reducing weight, noise, and total footprint. The new 1000 kVA unit offers an input power factor greater than 0.99, a wide input voltage range of 15% to -20%, and an output power factor rated at unity. The G9000 supports 100% unbalanced loads and 100% step-load changes without battery discharge, and is equipped to support monitoring adapters utilizing SNMP, MODBUS, and other protocols. These large capacity units also come with Toshiba's industry-leading three-year onsite warranty.
