Human Machine Interface-OIS-DS

Extensive monitoring and operation functions ensure an advanced operation environment. Monitoring screens have a hierarchical (or top-down) design where the user starts from higher-level screens and moves to the screens lower in the hierarchy to find the information to be monitored. Related data can be quickly displayed. Multiple monitoring screens are linked for display purposes so that information can be monitored and analyzed from several perspectives.

Overview

Reliability and Robustness

We have been producing the key modules of our control system with stable quality. These can also have a duplex configuration to provide the reliability and robustness of TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv system.

Each Human Machine Interface (HMI) station can use Toshiba industrial computers (IPCs) that provide stable quality.

High Speed and Definite Response

TCnet is a network technology IEC certified and advocated by TOSHIBA corporation.

TCnet system is a highly controllable control system without variation in set-up time because the TCnet network stations can transmit and receive data at high speed and with a definite response.

Flexible Connectivity

The system easily integrates with our existing setup as well as with other companies’ systems, using industrial-standard protocols. Additionally, it is simple to monitor and control both our system and those of other companies via OIS-DS and HMI stations.

Inheritance of User Assets

Several migration methods for existing DCS (Distributed Control System) to TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv will be useful for reducing implementation costs.

Pursuing Process Performance

Toshiba has several advanced control technologies: the model-driven PID control, the 2-degree-of-freedom hyper PID control, the Advanced Feed Forward control, and the Double Cross Limit Combustion control. Our technologies are designed to optimize process performance.

Productivity and Usability

Our integrated engineering tool contributes to the productivity and the conservativeness of systems engineering.

Harmony with Environment

Unified Controller nv series, the flagship controller of the TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv system, was created by using lead-free solder and utilizing electronic parts obtained through “green procurement” for the global environment.  We thoroughly inspect these parts to ensure their reliability and stability for the requirement of power and social infrastructure systems.

System Configuration

OIS-DS

OIS-DS, Operator Interface Station, is the interface for the TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nV system recommended for the industrial PC FA3100 series platform or other Windows® 10 computers.

In the Toshiba OIS-DS system, the OIS-DS reads and writes data directly to and from the controllers. The server is only used for historical data, such as trends and historical alarms. If the server fails, the operator still has control of the process through the OIS-DS interface.

Prompt and Accurate Screen Operations

Easy-to-Navigate Screen Operation.

Monitoring screens have a hierarchical (or top-down) structure for easy-to-find information. Related data can be quickly displayed. Multiple monitoring screens are linked for display purposes to monitor and analyze information from several perspectives.

Easy System Configuration, Reduced Engineering Time

In TOSDIC-CIE DS, the process database server (controller) and the process data reference client part (a human interface: OIS-DS) are separated. If the process data is registered on the controller side, registering the same process data in the OIS-DS side is unnecessary, unlike other SCADA packages.

When OIS-DS is connected with the control network of TOSDIC-CIE DS, OIS-DS communicates with the process database registered to the controller and provides the process data access method to the user. As a result, the engineering time required for the system construction can be reduced due to the flexible configuration environment and improves as the plant scale becomes larger.

SVR-DS

SVR-DS, Server Station, is a data server that stores several data of the TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv system and supplies those data to OIS-DSand the EWS. Toshiba industrial PC FA3100 series is recommended as the platform.

Redundancy

SVR-DS databases are as follows. The SVR-DS redundant function duplicates each database. Therefore, data loss due to equipment troubles can be prevented.

  • Historical database – Collects and stores process data and history data.
  • Report database – Collects and stores report data of operations.
  • Network database – Collects and stores system status data and application data.

Control of application programs

The SVR-DS redundant function duplicates each database; therefore, data loss due to equipment troubles can be prevented. SVR-DS controls the user application programs; thus OIS-DS can monitor the conditions of application programs. For the control corresponding the event that happens in the system, the TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv system works more efficiently. SVR-DS plays an intermediary role between TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv system and other information systems.

EWS

ONS, Open Network Service, is an open protocol for the access to process tags of TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv system. EWS, Engineering Work Station, is an environment for the high-level applications and system interfaces that use ONS.Toshiba industrial PC FA3100 series is recommended as the platform.

Seamless Connection to Information Systems

To increase a plant’s operation rate and productivity through mutual connection among information systems such as reports, production planning, and process management, TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv system provides an open environment for application development. In addition, the widely adopted OPC interface is supported to enable seamless integration with information systems.

High-Level Maintenance Supported by Station Monitoring

EWS is a station monitored by the TOSDIC™-CIE DS/nv system. Thus, equipment troubles such as node down are detectable by OIS-DS, like the other stations. The reduction of MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) contributes to the high operation rate of the whole plant.

Insulated Bearings

  • An electric motor operating on an adjustable speed drive is at risk for premature bearing failure caused by stray currents. Experience indicates using insulated bearings on both ends of the motors is the most effective way to protect the motor from destructive currents. A high level of bearing protection is especially beneficial in applications where motor maintenance and replacement are difficult.
  • Extended Horsepower Capability

  • Extended horsepower capability allows a smaller motor to run at a higher horsepower than its baseline depending on the application requirements. This provides motor users potential cost savings while achieving the same motor performance.
  • Insulation with Wide Thermal Capability

  • Critical cooling motors utilize many Class H insulation materials in its winding designs, which provides increased thermal protection. These motors operate with a very low temperature rise at rated conditions, giving them a wide thermal margin and extended motor life.
  • Low Vibration

  • A vibration level exceeding NEMA MG1 requirements provides stability and durability by prolonging motor and bearing life and helping to reduce downtime.
